Cask-conditioned at The Raven, Bath, 19/7/08. I sampled this in between the Cornish beer festival at The Star in Bath and the summer festival at The Royal Oak. The variety on offer was wide and generally high quality. Unfortunately, Bomber stood out from the crowd in a negative way, being one dimensional with plenty of caramel sweetness and not much else. Not one to try again.

Medium light brown head. Deep barely translucent dark red body. Roasty wooden malty aroma with plum and mint notes. Dry nutty malty roasty plum taste with minty notes. Soft, light body. Dry roasty caramelly aftertaste with raisins. Very nice and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, Co-op, Ballycastle, Ulster, as Thwaites Strong Ale.)

Bottle 0,5l. Dark golden brown colored. A thin filmy layer. Sweet malty and fruity aroma. Flavor of spice & fruit. Sourish bitter aftertaste.

Can @ home. Dark ruby/black appearance with a creamy head. Taste is soft, chocolate and roasted malts, but a bit thin and watery. Not a bad beer though.

Cask at the Turf Tavern, Oxford 10-07-08 in the company of Casey and Traci This has now been rebadged as Nutty Black. A light roasty aroma, quite a simple mild there is little sweetness its really quite tasty with gentle fruitiness trickling along underneath.

500ml bottle at a drinking session in Tromsø. Amber body with a white, bubbly head. Moderate smell om flowers and malt. Slightly spiced hoppy flavour with a rounded bitterness in the finish (14.06.2008).

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown towards black with a lacing tan head. Mild roasted caramel malt aroma. Initial breadish flavour with a mild sweetness. A light bitterness shows through the roasted caramel and breadish flavours. Ends medium dry and bitter with a lingering roasted flavour with mild acidic touches from the roasted malt.

Cask-conditioned at Colston Yard, Bristol 1/6/08. Near black with plenty of ruby undertones. Aroma of summer fruit and dark chocolate. flavour started fruity before a slightly roasty finish. A decent mild.
