Description
The Brewery Michael Plank was established in 1617. It is a small, family owned business that is now under the direction of the 16th generation Michael Plank.

The current Michael Plank is now the brewmaster and is credited with honing the traditional recipes to their current levels which have led to the company being named as the "Best Small Brewery in the World" at the 2006 & 2012 World Beer Cup! That makes Plank the only brewery to have been awarded this World Beer Cup....twice.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, huge head. Starts mild, malty-yeasty, a bit washy. Dry and light sourish notes. Not too drinkable. Okay.

Nice intense fruity beginning. Lots of clove and yeast. very intense and deep, fantastic balanced and fruity. Full-bodied, rich in total, lots of clove and yeast in the aftertaste with a smooth Weizen sweetness. Fantastic.

Nice refreshing beginning. A bit weak but still interesting smooth mild clove there. Moderate bitter, refreshing with a fruity grainy ending, hints of sourness, round and refreshing for 2.9%.

Smooth soft creamy beginning. Easy to drink with lots of nice creamy dark malts, harmonising fantastic with the herbal clove yeast aroma. Very nice smooth finish, very soft, lots of creamy yeast with a subtle Weizen sweetness. Well-balanced, great.

Ganz eindeutig ein dunkles Weizen (auch wenn es einige Internetportale als helles Weizen führen). Sehr wohlschmeckend. Eher auf der süßen Seite. Malzig. Minimal röstig. Allerdings viel zu viel Kohlensäure. Das passt hier nicht. Weicher wäre besser.

Hazy deep orange, with a big enough but not as big as usual for the style head. Ok retention and some lacing. Aroma is a bit too subdued, with bubblegum and fruity notes of peach and banana taking the main stage, plus slight clove. Taste is brighter. Obviously sweet (averagely so per style), with hints of spiciness/clove and the slightest sourness to bring balance. Notes are bubblegum, banana, peach. Medium bodied with average carbonation, overall kind of lighter than usual for style and abv. A rather simple, highly drinkable, smooth interpretation of a weizenbock. Nice enough, but not very interesting to me.

Frothy white head stayed on a finely carbonated, cloudy dark orange coloured body. Orange, yeast & spice aroma - smells like a Tripel. Medium bodied, creamy to the fore with a tingle down the back. Wheat, banana, orange, yeast, spices, pepper & sweet citrus with a boozy tangy finish.

Tap at Grub. Boozy. Aroma is fruity and slightly doughy. Taste has marzipan, apricot, nice sweetness, full bodied, doughy again.

Keyaki. Bit fruity, some caramel, nice enough but sample was a little small to tell as it ran out.

Keyaki. Nice. Banana, wheat, creamy, quite thick. Hides the booze. Just a hint of something fruity cherry which usually means booze for me.
