Description
The Brewery Michael Plank was established in 1617. It is a small, family owned business that is now under the direction of the 16th generation Michael Plank.
The current Michael Plank is now the brewmaster and is credited with honing the traditional recipes to their current levels which have led to the company being named as the "Best Small Brewery in the World" at the 2006 & 2012 World Beer Cup! That makes Plank the only brewery to have been awarded this World Beer Cup....twice.

Can from Gourmet Haus. Solid Weissbier all around. A bit reserved on spicy and fruity esters for style, but nice.

"Plank-Bier Dunkler Weizenbock", Flasche (MHD: 3.7.2025) von Liebick, geleert 27.6.2025. Mein 2. - Sehr gediegener, geradezu eleganter dunkler Weizenbock. Meisterhaft!

Undated can, canned at B. United/OEC, drunk 4/4/25.
Drab copper, clear, with a large, buttery-beige head of strong retention.
Undercurrent of clove with strong cookie-like malts and mild banana. Vanilla, honey, white bread. Very rich and malty to balance the phenols, which it does admirably.
Soft and malty with strong phenolic notes (clove and white pepper), but allayed, for the most part, by a butter cookie maltiness that is rich but well-attenuated on the finish. Hints of the slightly vinous, house yeast on the finish without bubble gum and only a classy banana character.

Unclear amber with a foamy head. Fried banana, some clove, estery notes, lemon juice, some caramel. Dry citrusy bitterness, malty sweetness. Medium bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, dry zesty malty bittersweet finish. Good Urweisse!
