Sample from bottle at Zwanze Amsterdam. hazy golden with short lasting white head. Funk, quite vegetal on the nose with soft puke, but after sipping these slightly off notes are gone and there’s sour gooseberries and grapes with hay and funk. Medium sour and hay bitterness. Sparkly carbonation. Thought this was unretable so didn’t really write anything down last weekend. Nice stuff though, but might befenit form some decanting to improve the nose. update. Bottle at home of the commercial version. Deep ruby red with fizzy pink head. Quite the same as above but more vinous and tannins, some fruity hops, more Brett funk, pineapple, hay. Under medium sour and light bitter. Very good.

Sample from bottle at Carnivale Brettanomyces. Murky pink with white head. Lactic notes, over ripe fruit, strawberries, quite funky. Quite lactic overall but decent. Had two on the day but wrote just a few words on this, would love to sample it again. Nice stuff. Update: bottle shared at home. Same as above but with very short lasting fizzy head. Less lactic but light sweat and wood glue, especially on the nose. Strong grainy notes, funk, hay, with strawberries a bit in the background. Again pretty good but the sample from last year was way better as it didn’t have this glue.

Sampled from bottle at Carnivale Brettanomyces 2015. Hazy pinkish color, medium frothy head. Aroma of strawberry, funk, tartness. Soft fruity notes, medium sour, both lactic and citric, not harsh but wonderfully smooth. Tommie Sjef has the absolute potential to make world class stuff. Cantillon, watch the rising star of Tommie Sjef!

From bottle at Zwanze Amsterdam 2015. Hazy, purple with a thin, off-white head. Slightly funky, sourish-fruity aroma of red grapes and wood. Slightly funky, sourish-fruity taste of red grapes and wood, followed by a short, tart finish. Thin body, spritzy and astringent mouthfeel. Nice stuff.
