Description
After a great reception from his hobby as an enthusiastic amateur brewer, Toby Mackenzie and his wife Caroline decided to expand and go full time establishing the award winning Red Willow brewery in 2010. Their aim was to make the types of beer that they like - full of flavour yet easy to drink. Red Willow now offer a range of beers that can be found in many local pubs and shops in cask

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours golden yellow with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. Yeasts are to the fore in the aroma, along with floral hops and hints of bubblegum. In the mouth it is on the cusp between bitter and sweet with a creamy (almost cloying) texture. Flavour has yeasts, continental hops and malts with increasing spiciness. Traces of alcoholic strength and barley sugar come later, leading to a slightly boozy finish. This is decent. Not quite as distinctive as yer actual Belgian Tripel โ but itโs dangerously drinkable !

Old rating from 02/09/14. A 500ml bottle I picked up on my trip through Cheshire. Poured at home in Jersey, it's amber with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, fruits, flora & intense hops. Medium body. Smooth light bitter finish. Very enjoyable

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small frothy cream head and good lacing. Malts to the fore in the aroma alongside coffee and chocolate. In the mouth it fluctuates between bitter and sweet with malts, floral hops and dried fruits. Later there are traces of coffee, ginger and raspberries leading to a slightly dry finish. This is decent.
