Lots of caramel and hints of raisins, bit of bourbon upfront. After it settled it got porter thin but still good flavor on top.

Kind of an odd duck here for this last year that I tried out of this 4 Pack series of barrel-aged beers from Fulton this year. I tried this one last because I anticipated it to be the sweetest. And it wasn't the sweetest but it wasn't the driest either what it was was the most nondescript. I could barely pick up any of the port Madeira character. It was like the others and that it was super smooth had all the dark Rich Imperial Stout qualities yet was still balanced on the sweet side little boozy in the Finish. Don't think this would get any benefit from further cellaring.

Kind of similar to the porter in this series, in that it is not overly rich, the booze is there, yet still fairly smooth and balanced. Sweet dominates, but there's some roast, sufficient carbonation and cocoa to round.

Well so far two out of four of this barrel-aged 4-pack are about the same Super smooth and balanced. Not quite as complex or as bold as I'd hoped but very nice drinking beer likewise so far not really cellarable.

Hm, I know I'm a nitpicker, but still- The small tan head disappeared pronto and the color, when held up to a 100 w bulb in the narrow part of the glass, is a hazy garnet. Aromas are cocoa and dark ripe fruit, toffee. Flavors are similar to nose, bittersweet and with a very long boozy finish.Trying to imagine how this would cellar... just lose some of the alcohol heat? It's already very mellow.

I'm sorry to say that, to begin this review, I drainpoured this beer. Maybe it turns out I don't like Mosaic hops, at least not standalone. This beer seemed like a good base beer, richly bready, with a nice mouthfeel. But the hop profile was abrasively grassy, earthy, soapy onions? possibly butyric acid so maybe it's less "I don't like Mosaic" to "these hops were old and rancid".
