About
Former name: "Münch-Bräu Eibau".

In 1810, the Eibau brewery was established by the Zittau brewing community.
The location of Eibau was confirmed by King Friedrich August I (1806-1827 King of Saxony) as the first rural brewery in the Zittau area. Since then, beer has been brewed here in the heart of the Upper Lausitz.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours bright gold with a large white head. Aroma has only a hint of cardamom - mostly yeast/spice. Med body. Flavor is mostly yeast/spice with some banana. Bare hint of cardamom or citrus. Fairly wheaty. Good beer but could be mistaken for a hefeweizen.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours translucent gold with a large foamy white head. The aroma is banana with a hint of old-fashioned linoleum paste. Approaching med body. Flavor is very clove with some banana notes. Nice enough.

500 ml can from Total Wine. Blonde? Pours a hazy deep gold color with a large, tight white head and great retention. Great lacing too. Surprisingly yeasty aroma, like a Hefeweizen. The taste follows the nose: Heavy bready yeast flavor up front, with light esters and light cloves in the finish. A Hefe light? It's okay, just not what I expect for a blonde. Medium body. Below average carbonation. Not bitter.

500 ml can from Total Wine. Pours a crystal clear gold color with a white head and good retention. Decent lacing. Light pale malt aroma. Clean and smooth pale malt flavor with a touch of white bread and barely any sulfur notes. Medium body. Medium-high carbonation. No bitterness. A nice straightforward lager with good flavor for only 4.1% ABV.

500 ml can from Total Wine - Naples, FL. Pours a semi-clear gold color with a white head and very good retention. Decent lacing. Floaties present. Euro lager aroma with just a hint of sulfur. Basic Euro pale lager flavor, about as generic as it gets. Nothing good and nothing bad. Just beer. Medium body. Low carbonation, almost flat. Not bitter. Easy enough to drink.

Big 17 oz pounder can. Pours a somewhat orange brown brew. Maybe some bubble gum or banana on the hose nose. First tongue taste impression is quite pleasant, an interesting off sweetness characteristic of many well made hef-dunks. No real negative aspects at first, just good old darker hefe. Not sure if it lives up to other hef-dunks I've done like Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel, Ayinger Urweisse or even Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel, buts its right up there near the front line, with the ones I like. Yes, these things have a very distinct flavor profile and I think I like em. I like a well made hefe, and I especially like a well made dunkel; and this one is quite satisfying fer sher. In the end I found this quite satisfying. Its enjoyable but was hoping for a little more co2. Could probably drink a couple more of these. Thanks Zitty.

Larger pounder can. Pour is darker brown with a maroon tinge shade shining thru. Smell is mild dark malt. First taste is dark slightly roasted malt feel. No real bitterness can be found. Smoother dark beer feeling. Decent carbonation. Slight cloying sweetness in the middle but not enough to make it distracting. Going down quite nice. Near the end I'm getting some of that old damp partially burned campfire wood character. Finishes with a solid satisfying schartzbeir attitude. Not bad. S6 L4 F2 T7 O

Can, as Eibau Berliner Geschichte Bock, from Total Wines, Laguna Hills. Drank on Saturday 15th June 2024 after putting my Granddaughter to bed (she is 3) and I'm knackered! No head on the clear golden body, apart from a quickly fading white wisp. It's sweet and caramel like in taste, most likely going to give me a hang-over too, it has that acholic twang those such beers do. Not what I expected or wanted at all.
