Sample at the Sam Adams beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 07/30/09. The beer is a clear orange-copper color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Stringy lacing. Herbal hops and fruit in the nose. Medium body with flavors of herbs, floral hops and earthy malt. The finish is fruits and herbs with a mild hops aftertaste. Just average overall, and honestly a little disappointing.

Bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew. Pours with a small white head over an orange body. Taste is orange-citrus hops, and caramel. Taste is grainy with hops and light carbonation.

Bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew. Hmm, I have seen this before on tap at Naja’s Place. Pours with a tan head and a hazy brown body. Aroma of raisins, chocolate, and toffee. Taste is chocolate, raisiny, light wood and alcohol. Syrupy mouthfeel.

Bottle thanks to AmEricanbrew. Pours with a hazy brown with a ring of head. Aroma is hoppy and spiced with tea, herbal and earthy notes. Taste is hoppy, herbal, a bit catty with sarsaparilla and juniper notes. Light carbonation. Sadly, this one looses points from me as the sage and juniper are overpowering and looses drinkability for me.

Bomber from South Bay Drug. Hazy lemon color with very little white head. Aromas of grain and citrus. Banana as the glass approaches the lips. Not quite medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is grain, mild banana, mild spice. Not spectacular, but likely refreshing on a hot day.

Bottle from the Coop in Davis, CA. Copper amber color with a three-finger beige tan head. Rather evergreen aroma, but not over the top. Medium body with creamy carbonation. There is so much hop. It is almost juniper. It is almost sticky with resin and malt. Sage? Might be. Mostly really evergreen. If you love gin, this is for you. The juniper just rolls around the mouth. This might be something to preserve the body for the ages!
