Bottle from Sainsburys. Clear asmber with a decent, off-white head. Bready, dense malts, some earthiness and a touch of fruit sweetness. Not so good.

Red brown colour. Aroma is quite malty. Flavour has a bit of fruity sweetness and plenty of malt. Not very hoppy for an IPA but does have a great, sweet malty taste.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Amber pour with a white head. Caramel and toffee aroma. Sweet flavours of caramel, treacle and toffee. Finishes sweet and lightly bitter. Odd but strangely likeable.

50cl bottle from Sainsburys. Hazy amber with a ring of white head and heavy carbonation; citrus, hoppy, aroma; zesty citrus flavour at first, giving way to some toffee malts; then a lightly bitter finish with a hint of grapefruit. A pleasant summery bitter.

500ml bottle as part of the Sainsburys beer challenge 2011. Clear brown amber colour with lasting thin beige head. Toast on the aroma. Malty toast. Like toasted granary bread aroma. Filtered and pasteurised I’m guessing. It’s a bitter. Some more toast throughout. Not much yeast, hop or fruit flavour. Bit of caramel. But there is a certain emptiness 3/4 of the way through. Finish has some dryness. It’s a bitter. A toasty bitter. Nothing more or less.

(Cask at Market Porter, Southwark, London, 23 July 2011) Brownish amber colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dried fruit, orange peel and slightly toasty malt. Malty, nutty taste with dried apricots, raisins, prunes and a slightly spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with some malt sweetness. Quite nice.
