Description
We’ve always relied on our wits to give us an edge. We tried things others wouldn’t and refused to let being smaller keep us from thinking big. To become masters of our craft, we had to be pretty darned crafty. This spirit is at the heart of everything we do—and in every drop we brew.

Part of their Selection of the moment tester 6-pack. Was not expecting much, but this reminds me so much of the Granville Lion beer. Dark clean amber with a beige frothy head, good retention and lacing. Cocoa smell with some vanilla. Well-blended cocoa as well in the taste giving a chocolate malt finish. Quite surprise with this one. Very nice seasonal winter brew.

Can from Beers of Europe. Gold with a white head and a lot of fizz. Looks like a macro lager if I’m honest. There’s a brief moment of brightness up front - a little twist of lemon and a bit of vanilla- but it all too quickly descends into fizzy, metallic sweetcorn juice. There’s a tiny hint of grassy hop in the background, but not enough to distract from what is a pretty dreadful beer.

This ale poured a dark golden colour with a off white, foamy head. Scents include dough, malt and a little whiskey. First swig was thin but had decent flavour. Flavours of malt, oak and minimal whiskey present. Finish is oaky with lightly smokey whiskey lingering.

Second generation of this low carb beer. Pours a light golden colour with a frothy white head that has better retention than expected with active carbonation from the medium-sized bubbles. Cereal grain malt scent with some sugars, cardboard and mild chemical hops. The taste is pretty much the same with a mineral water feel. Had a few of these from the 6-pack real cold on a hot night, and it did the job for a light lager. Now, testing room temperature and cereal-hay malts come out a little more. Still, watery overall, but nothing offensive.
Earlier Rating: 8/31/2011 Total Score: 1.6
Originally rated July 2006. Sleeman’s brew to fit the low carb market pours a pale yellow colour with a soapy white head that leaves minimum lace. It quickly dissipates and carbonation is active with average-size bubbles. Very weak aromas of grain malt with a fizzy and watery mouthfeel. The taste, like the rest is not offensive, but does not show up much. Close to Labatt’s Sterling. Molson’s Ultra is the best low carb out of the three big guns of Canada.

Pours a clear amber colour with medium-sized bubbles. The head is frothy beige with average retention and some nice creamy-foamy lacing. Sweet aromas with some caramel malts and other hay-like malts. Wood notes and some mild smoke in the background. The taste is malty with hints of wood in the mouthfeel and the smokiness is almost not there. Not a bad beer, but a little too sweet and filling to drink more than one in a night.

This smoked lager poured a nice Amber colour with an off white, foamy head. Scents include smoke, cream and malt. First swig was smooth and a bit watery with smoke flavours in the front and sweet malt behind. Finish is lightly smokey and somewhat lifeless. Very drinkable...

Sampled on draft this beer poured a caramel color with a huge fluffy white head that lingered and left incredible lacing. The aroma was tangy, sweetish and had faint fruit. The flavor was bready, tangy, and had hintso f honey and golden fruits. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.
