Description
We’ve always relied on our wits to give us an edge. We tried things others wouldn’t and refused to let being smaller keep us from thinking big. To become masters of our craft, we had to be pretty darned crafty. This spirit is at the heart of everything we do—and in every drop we brew.

Beautiful brown bottle, quite interesting and unique. First aroma is a bit stale and off, but in a nice way. Clear rootbeer appearance. No head. Roasted campfire hints on the first taste. A little charcoal bitterness follows on the taste buds. Stans up to the other medium alky porters with relative ease. Mild carbonation. Not bad for a dark beer. there is a mild to medium bitterness that builds on the back of the throat during the session. This results in a finish that has a mild to medium feel of burnt meat from the grill on the back of your throat. Not bad overall.

341 mL bottle. Pours golden orange/amber, clear, with a lacing white head. Slight malty aroma with mild whiff of honey. Flavour is mellow, honey and malt. Slight bitterness in the finish.

Amber lager. Not bad, just a plain Ale, sweetish, medium bodied, medium-low bitterness.

Nice hazy copper color. Some aroma of cereals, caramel, light Bourbon vanilla, apples. Dry mouthfeel, with a correct caramel flavor, light residual sugars, a bit of fruitness. Pleasant.

bottle - Pours dark amber with a one finger head and a light malt aroma. The flavor is sweet and malty with some very light fruit and nut notes. It’s really easy to drink, but could use a little more body. Not bad.

A golden beer with a thick froathy white head. Pale ale my a**. Smells of corn adjunct. Light sulfur. In mout, lightly sweet mineral water. Can from LCBO. Enough said.

Canette 473ml (LCBO).

Big shiny offwhite head. Yellow body with lots of carbonation. Thin malty aroma. Malty perfumed taste, somewhat vague. Smooth, clean mouthfeel. Traces of corn and hops. No real aftertaste, just a little metal. It’s OK, a bit of flavour, and no real offtastes. (0.355l can, courtesy of Air Canada.)

Bottle. Golden pour that has a short-lived creamy head. Aromas are grassy and sweet... almost a honey scent in the background. Flavor is a little grassy, then sweet in the finish. Rather uninspired.

12 oz. "Sleeman Porter 68°" bottle. Pours brown that’s a bit light for a porter, but just within range. Kind of a sweet smell, with bits of chocolate and some fruit. Can’t say as I like the texture; it’s highly carbonated when this style demands fiewer bubbles for a cask feel. But there are well roasted coca malts, low astringency, just a hint of smoke, and somehow a trace of cherry pie. Total taste is actually pretty good, if it misses the chewiness of the porters I’m used to, and the presentation needs some work.

The grassy hop aroma expected from a light lager. The brassy gold color and frothy white head you’d expect from a lager. A bit thin bodied. Not bad. The level of bitter is indeed what one might expect from an English bitter, and the accompanying malt is not inappropriate. Something of a mule, in the hybrid sense. However, it is surprisingly drinkable. Interesting essay.
