Missed it last time, got it this time. Poured a daaaark brown body with a beige thick head that went away relatively slowly. Dry malty aroma, a bit of a letdown, only some miiiild chocolate taste. Mild dry taste, caramel, toasty, ending with a medium bitterness. A well executed lager that paled in comparison to the Antidepressant Ale & the Jantar, but would be the star beer of most brewpubs I’ve been to.

On tap at Strahov. Didn’t actually plan to end up here again, but, when our tour guide took us by tram to the Old Town instead of the center, I couldn’t resist going here, taking some of my padawans with me. :D It seems like this week was pretty special, with a ton of seasonals being rereleasesd, something like that, but we ended up there on Sunday and almost everything was gone, including the IPA. This, however, wasn’t. Poured a dark brown body with a lasting small off white head. Sweetish aroma hops in the nose, oranges, jaffa cakes, liiiight bubblegum. Sweet mild fruity aroma hops nose (this has Mosaic & some others) fights with a lovely lean malty backbone and some fine roastiness, subtly herbal to boot. The fruitiness does win out in the end. Again, an insanely well crafted beer from this brewery... Good job Strahov, good job!

5th Oct 2014. on-tap 0.4 litre pour at the brewpub: told it was their ’lager’ and 5.2% by the server: assume it’s this. Amber with a mini haze and white topping. Malts lead the way in the aroma and taste, biscuity and light, some floral hops follow along. A mild citrus hint arrives in the mouth but this is predominantly a maltier brew than a hop dominated beer: nice enough blend I suppose but wanted more oomph. The finish was slightly bitter but enough to get excited about.

0.4 litre pour at the brewpub on 5th Oct 2014. Slight haze to the golden amber body, medium sized off white topping. Nose is hop first with mild roasted/toasted malts second, mini citrus notes within the hop element. The taste came with a caramel malt lead, this time the hops coming in second with their grapefruit, citrus flavours. Good blend of tastes and a lot better than their wheat and lager/pilsner offerings before this. Better than I expected and the last of the three beers we were allowed with our pre-ordered meal. Time to move on: so we did,

0.4 litre pour at the brewery on 5th Oct 2014. usual hazy orange/amber/yellowy body with a full and lasting white foaming head. Mild yeast and banana feel to the nose and taste, some hints of vanilla as you would expect too. I thought it a little bland and not a great example of the style: drinkable but could have been more flavoursome and interesting like many i have tried before.
