Description
On August 28, 1865 the Ganter brewery was founded by Ludwig Ganter. In 1877 the Ganter brewery bought the "Alte Ölmühle" area far from the city. Between Dreisam and Schwarzwaldstrasse the production facilities and the stately villa were built. A specially constructed deep well provides the basis for excellent beer to this day: pure, crystal clear spring water from the Black Forest. In 2010-2012 the family invests in the most modern technical equipment. With a clear regional awareness and the desire to hand over the brewery to the 5th generation as an independent family business.

Tap at the Ganter Biergarten, downtown Freiburg. Cloudy golden, white cream. Soft creamy, pleasant fruitiness, good bitter counterpoint, grassy, light flowery, very pleasant in the summer heat next to the river.

Tap at Ganter Biergarten. Murky golden. Grass, green, dusty. Front heavy fizzy, dry hoppy. It is actually not undrinkable.

At Kirchzarten, a classical weiss filtered, not bad and refreshing, not so subtle than the normal version, generous with the wheat, fruity, 20.10.19, at Kirchzarten, in family.

In my point of view, it is the perfect idea of what a hefe weissbier should have to be, well balanced, banana notes, generous wheat, lovely, 26.03.17, purchased at Freiburg, drinking it at Bonfol.

My bottle was bad, simply that it was too carbonated, not drinkable, I hope that it was only this brassin that it was bad, 20.10.19, at Kirchzarten, purchased at Freiburg, normally the beers are correct from this brewery, it was maybe an accident.

Best before 01/24, coming from one supermarket st Freiburg. Tasting this old style bottle, yesterday, at home, after a long day between job and competition. Classical dunkel Bavarian style beer, really smooth, sweet, sugar, toffee, cereal, bitter, 19.05.24, at Epalinges.

It is a regular pils, classical, decent bitterness, hop, malt, dry for the style but typical from Germany, refreshing, 11.03.17, buying at Freiburg am Breisgau, at the Karstadt and drinking there in family.

Drinking at Kirchzarten, a classical pils, no revolution, acceptable, for me it was a rather dry pils, a bit herbal, decently hoppy, 21.10.19, buying it in one supermarket there.

Pours a very hazy, quite opaque golden. Didn't get much head for a weizen (the glass it was poured in wasn't 100% proper though), ok retention, not much lacing. Average to slightly below average intensity in the aroma: yeasty, soft/white bread base, a healty amount of spiciness (can clearly detect just clove), banana. Ok aroma, very simple. Taste notes follow the aroma quite closely, perhaps with a bit of vanilla showing up. Mandatorily sweet, as usually cut/balanced by a hint of sourness, though the overall balance felt a bit sweeter than the average weizen. As for the aroma, so-so taste intensity. Light to medium bodied, average carbonation (less carbonated than usual per style); felt easily drinkable and slick, slightly silky. Overall: nothing more than averagely good, actually felt a bit too average.

It is the typical classical German lager, a bit metalic, malty, bready, a bit watery, some hop, yellow and gold body, average, 03.04.17, tasting it at Bonfol and buying it at Freiburg am Breisgau.
