Description
It is in Normandy, in the heart of Cotentin, that the cider house of La Brique has been perpetuating the cider tradition since 1953. At that time, the brick cider house was just one of the many cider houses in Cotentin. Cider is still a popular beverage and is found at the table of all Norman houses. The distribution is then very local, concentrated in the cafes of Cherbourg and the Val de Saire. Individuals come to fill their bottles thanks to the many barrels present in the cafes. In the 1990s, under the leadership of Mr. Dupont, the Cidrerie de la Brique extended its distribution to Normandy.
In 2019, Francis Dupont sells the company to François Calandot. La Cidrerie de la Brique then offers a complete range of cider products which carries in its juice all the values of our terroirs and the artisanal know-how inherited from a long Norman family history. Passionate about cider, the employees of the Cidrerie de la Brique are committed to promoting our cider products throughout the Cotentin, Normandy and even the whole world.

Bottled (from Alko Prisma, Vaasa). Golden colour, mediumsized white big head, which taskes a while to disappear. Aroma is mildly eggy and sulphury with some nice apple skins and sweet apples to it. Flavour is bigtime vanilla with some yeast, dry wood and some toffeeish and mildly sulphury notes (the sulphur not in a bad way in the flavour). Very tasty, and really refreshing.

Bottle. Very pleasant and harmonically balanced aroma and taste. Rather sweet, but also some balancing sourness is present and the aplle character is very good, tasty.

Bottled (from Alko Kivihaka, Vaasa). Goldeny amber colour, not much head. Aroma is sweet and somewhat rotten apples with mild yeast and some vanilla and wooden notes. Flavour is apples, quite nice yeastiness along with vanilla, wood and some nice earthiness to balance it out. Very pleasant to drink and although thick and bold, a nice thirst quencher. Every now and then you get rewarded when trying out various things. This cider was a mindblower for my likes, when it comes to a cider.

37,5 cl bottle (5%) @ home. Rated on 1.6.2015
Impossible to smell at first, this is just so bubbling. Aroma has green apples, apple peel and some floury apples. Feels rather dry and somewhat leathery, also a bit acidic. Palate is surprisingly low on CO2 despite the bubbling. Leathery palate. Flavour has semi-ripe apples, apple peel, floury apples and mild white wine notes. A bit watery and straightforward but not bad. 6-3-6-3-13 = 3.1

Aroma has quite strong urinal tones, ripe apples and some barnyard aromas. Leathery palate. Flavour has ripe apples and apple peel. Also some apple juice occurs after some sips. Dry and leathery palate. Finishes slightly unpleasant with milk and floury tones. Straightforward and slightly watery.

Aroma has sugary tones, some sweet apples and urinal. Feels a bit floury. Rather leathery palate. Flavour has urinal, semi-ripe apples, fruit sugar and floury apples. Unusual and a tad too sweet. Gets a lot better towards the end of the glass though.

Bottle from Bottle Barn. Cork has "06". Slightly hazy pear juice color with very little head. A pear aroma much like lightly sweetened canned pears. Medium almost body with really sprizy carbonation. Flavor is pear and wood. It isn’t dry, but it seems to finish that way. Really pleasant to drink. There is a slight astringency that develops with time.

2004 Bottle. One of the best Perries that I have had to date. Pours with a medium sized rocky white head that covers a relatively dark (for a perry) chill hazed yellow body. Aroma of pears, plastic, and a bit of wood. Taste is very clean of pear and caramel. Very sweet, but not cloying. Slightly syrupy and lively carbonation. Could drink a lot of this as it tastes quite light. Perfect lunchtime drink.
