Description
It is in Normandy, in the heart of Cotentin, that the cider house of La Brique has been perpetuating the cider tradition since 1953. At that time, the brick cider house was just one of the many cider houses in Cotentin. Cider is still a popular beverage and is found at the table of all Norman houses. The distribution is then very local, concentrated in the cafes of Cherbourg and the Val de Saire. Individuals come to fill their bottles thanks to the many barrels present in the cafes. In the 1990s, under the leadership of Mr. Dupont, the Cidrerie de la Brique extended its distribution to Normandy.

In 2019, Francis Dupont sells the company to François Calandot. La Cidrerie de la Brique then offers a complete range of cider products which carries in its juice all the values of our terroirs and the artisanal know-how inherited from a long Norman family history. Passionate about cider, the employees of the Cidrerie de la Brique are committed to promoting our cider products throughout the Cotentin, Normandy and even the whole world.

8th July 2026: When I last had this in ten years ago it was my 600th cider! Had a few more since then. Much better than I recall. Fresh, crisp with a refined fruity berry side.

25th Dec 2016: 75cl bottle shared with Soph on Christmas Day in France. From Super U. Pours vivid pink, sparkling. Aroma is lightly sweet rose cidre fruit. Spritzy on the palate with sweet, clean red berries, sweet fruit. Not overly sweet but veering that way. Pleasant easy-drinking rose.

Bottle at Brouwer’s Café, Seattle, corked, 4.5% ABV
Cloudy dark blond color. Some vinegar aroma, but besides that there is plenty of funkiness, typical, with hazelnuts. Smooth mouthfeel; not too dry; apple skin flavor, very strong, tannic, moderately astringent, even a bit musky.
Excellent.

Bottle (from comarket, tallinn). Pours red with whiteish head. The small head stays. Aroma is very sweet, apples, some sourness. Flavor is sweet and sour, sweet apples, slightly acidic, slight minerals. Finish has even slight dryness. Carbonation is on the high side. Doesn’t feel watery despite the low ABV. Overall: maybe a bit sweet and over carbonation, but I can session this without a problem.

Bottle at Brouwer's Cafe, pours a hazy golden with a tiny white head. Aroma brings out lots of barnyard funk and a touch of blue cheese. Flavour is similar, with lots of clean crisp farmhouse funk, leather and blue cheese. Not one of the most complex French farmhouse ciders, but this is certainly lovely.
