Bouteille.

660ml bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Opaque dark brown body under a frothy beige head with a lots of small bubbles leaving great lacing on the glass. Plain chocolate aroma. Cocoa flavour supported by dark malts and roasted oats sharpened by a lingering bitter tail. Medium to full bodied (shared with Finn while watching the dramatic football match Denmark vs. Sweden on TV - we also had a delicious Carnegie Stark Porter, vintage 2003 - 02.06.2007).

Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy amber color ale with a huge foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of floral hops is quite intense and enjoyable with some piney and citrusy notes. Taste is dominated by bitter and citrus hops with some clear piney notes as well as some great caramel malt to sustain all those hops. Body is full with some great carbonation. Probably one of the best west coast IPA outside of the West coast.

Bottled. Cloudy nut brown, rich head. Restrained woody smoke aroma. Dry with clean mouthfeel and fairly lightbody. Some orange make an unusual addition to the medium intensity smokiness. Lightly yeasty. Fairly low bitterness. Very interesting, but I still prefer the more traditional Franconian renditions.
