Bottle [from Euro Swap 7 thanks to Sebilinz] @ home. Red-brown color with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is a bit sweetish, malts, some chocolate. Taste malts, lightly chocolate, softly bitter, slightly a hint of caramel. Average body and carbonation.

Das Bier gab es 2014, als Stouts abseits des Guinness in Österreich weitgehend als Exoten betrachtet wurden. Als solches war es mit seinem schönen tiefschwarzen Körper und den herben, röstmalzigen Aromen, welche durch eine leichte, grasige Hopfennote unterstrichen wurde, eine Ausnahmeerscheinung, die sich gut trinken ließ.

Bottle. Aroma mild, light stale hops, light honeyish malt. Clear golden colour. Taste is bad, stale hops, light malt. Not good.

Bottle from a Billa in Vienna. Pours light gold with a foamy white head. Aroma is bready with a hop I can’t place. Flavor is bitter hop with some caramel. Spicy hop might fit. It’s bitter to me.

Bottle from Merkur supermarket. Aroma sweet honeyish malt, hay, light metallic and stale hops. Mostly clear yelelow colour, left the sediment in bottle. Quickly disappearing head. Initially taste of simple sweet malt, followed by light bitterness and what strikes me as stale hops flavour. Ends pretty quickly, with a neutral impression. The beer is not bad, but boring.

Flasche von Geiserich, vielen Dank! Fast schwarzes Bier mit schöner beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, süß, Schokolade, etwas Kaffee. Geschmack röstmalzig, schokoladig, minimal metallisch, etwas zu viel Kohlensäure.

2014 fand ich das Bier mit dem weißen Etikett im Supermarkt, das dort nicht mehr zu finden ist. Es war ein recht einfaches Bier, das aber eine schöne Hopfung hatte und dabei einen gemütlich malzigen HIntergrund (das klassische Raschhofer Zwickl läßt grüßen). Es mag nicht die Spritzigkeit mancher deutscher Pils haben, aber erfreut durch hohe Süffigkeit.

Pours a standard golden color with average white head. The malty aroma is quite strong in this one, slightly smelly too. The taste is expectedly malty with some basic bitterness towards the end. A decent bittery afterfinish. Nothing special, but drinkable enough.

Bottle. Yellow-golden, hazy body, with big, frothy, white head, that dissipates completely. Arlma of grains, grass, herbs, some like sweetness. Tastes of grains, herbs, bread, honey. Mouthfeel is medium to light, with a moderate carbonation and it finishes bitter-sweet, with grains and herbs. Overall OK, but nothing special at all. I’ve had much better Zwickels.
