Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear amber with a creamy and lacing beige head. Sweet caramel aroma with a discreet smoke note. Medium body, the smoke gets a little more pronounced in the flavour, but also a little cardboard appears. A little late hops. 290911

07/06 0.33 l bottle. It poured deep brown body with small head. Malty, slightly roasted aroma. Weaker, but fine flavor, coffee, biscuits, some caramel and slightly lactic. Shorter, but prominent coffee finish. Fine porter, but misses quite lot of body.

Another trip to Graz got me another Raschhofer Bierreise 6-pack. Cool! This one poured a lovely dark ruby colour with a small off white head that went away at a medium pace. Sweetish soft malty nose, caramelly yet dry, bit woody and chocolatey, maybe a touch of honey, actually reminds me of a lighter Tomislav, which is good in my opinion. Eh, light taste a bit too light (heh, I might even believe that their recipe is from England). There’s a cute little maltiness that ends nicely dry, woody and coffeish. Dark chocolate aftertaste. Drinkable stuff, likable and techically without flaws other than the lightness that takes a point in palate and at least a point overall, but can pretty much be called a Schwarzbier and noone would think of contradicting that. Still, that’s not that big a problem. I like this beer.

0.33 l bottle remained from last trip to Graz. It poured clear copper body with medium sized brownish head. Fine malty caramel aroma, sweetish, with only a touch of smoked malt. Flavor however showed more of it, pleasantly smoked peat, wood more than bacon for sure. Caramel, but not quite sweet malt nicely rounds it very nicely. Medium body with nice long smoky finish. Lighter than Bambergians for sure, but still an obvious rauchbier. Even more important, I really enjoyed its simple, but quality charm.

12/03 0.5 l bottle from last trip to Graz. It poured golden body with small head. Malty sweetish, honey aroma with only bit of herbal hops. Biscuit and eggy malty flavor, bit boring I would say, with again, only a little bit of herbal hops. Thinner body with shorter papery and eggy finish. Similar to previous Austrian pils we’ve had, this is not quite a true pils and this one is even not interesting.
