On tap at Brother’s Beer. Pours red brown. Caramel, grapefruit, orange, floral. Think the fresh hops make things a touch messier but it’s still delicious.

On tap at Hashigo Zake. Aroma is a little buttery, but there’s plenty of charcoal and pine too. I’ll also forgive any problems in the aroma for a taste like this. Clean bitter pine up front, a little juicy peach in the middle and then a smooth dark chocolate finish. Bitter, refined and complex. This is everything a black IPA should be.

Draft at D4. Hazy deep amber color, thick tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of bright pine and caramel. Taste is bittersweet pine. Nice balanced, good mouthfeel.

Dark brown. Big spicy aroma with cumin, coriander. Rich chocolate taste, light spice and moderate hops. Rooty bitterness. Conceptually, I normally wouldn’t be that interested in this, but I can dig it.
