The Effet Papillon brasserie was founded by Jocelyn and Mathilde in 2016. Jocelyn manages the beer production. Every year, since the creation of the brewery in 2016, she manages to reinvent herself. Mathilde, for her part, manages the commercial part wonderfully and is the brewery's ambassador every day!

330ml bottle from Le Comptoir Vins et Bieres, St Malo. Misty golden yellow appearance, large white head. Overly gassy unfortunately, very high carb with an otherwise pleasantly floral sweet character, medium to light bodied with a crisp prominent bitterness coursing through. Doesn't jump out like a NEPA, lacks body.. more of a hoppy saison.

Tap @ Space Factory, Bordeaux, in the city centre. Pale golden with a minor haze. Fair session IPA holding its own with flavoursome enough citrus notes in both aroma and taste.

Tap @ Les Berthom, Bordeaux, in the heart of the city centre. Hazy golden with a head. Light malt profile, better citrus available in taste. Quite fresh, decent body.

(Draught at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels, 22 Oct 2023) Cloudy pale yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with pineapple, mango, passionfruit, lemon and pine needles. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of grass, pineapple, passionfruit, pine needles, lemon, white bread and a balanced citric/grassy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Fresh, tasty and juicy. Nice one.

Draught No head, faintly muddy cardinal red beer. Rather sweet, syrupy nose, as (rasp)berries concentrate. Rainwater. Pure raspberry flavour with lactic acid in the background. Raspberry leaves. Sticky, if fleetingly, but at the same time acidburn and -thinning. Mix of good and less. I wonder how the raspberries were added, as a suspicion of artificial keeps hanging.

Pâle/blonde, pas de col, de l’avis du brasseur, un problème de pompe.
Arôme est finement fumé, acidulé/citrique ressortent bien – bois fumé plus que la légèreté du malt fumé avec un léger rétro-nasal grains concassés.
Palais est finement acidulé avec un fumé plaisant venant d’un fumage maison, pas d’un usage de malts fumé. Moyen un peu pâtissier avec une fin de bouche citrique, léger salin, discret sur les grains.
