750mL bottle, 2020 vintage, drunk May 6, 2026.
Beautiful fruit in the nose with, I daresay, less acetic than in their straight fruited lambics. Jammy and rich with a good sweetness that helps balance. Doesn't smell like all acid. Very gentle funk and a good malt/wheat backbone.
Damn. Still that acetic note up front, leading to a cringeworthy amount of vinegar that distracts from the fruit. Great carbonation and a slick, wheat-like texture with ample depth, but in the end, just too much acetic. There's like zero apparent Brett and even the lactic acidity is outdone by the acetic.
After trying six aged bottles from Funk Factory, every one of which contained too much acetic (The Last Four Winters having the least), I can pretty confidently say that these guys aren't going to be dearly missed. They did a lot of good things (excellent fruit expression, clarity of flavors, excellent texture) but it all seems to be overshadowed by the excessive acetic acid, sadly.

2019 750mL bottle drunk 4/28/26.
Unlike the previous 4 I had (all 2018 750mLs) from FF recently, this one had a tiny pop upon decorking and even a vigorous pour failed to yield any real head. But it's still carbonated, just much, much less so than the raspberry lambics from them.
Beautiful cherry and Brett with, still, a touch of acetic, though it seems less than in their raspberry beers. Cherries are beautiful, showing no sugar at this point (if they ever did). Fully fermented out with mineral, skin and such being prominent. Not funky, but a good mix of lactic and Brett. Wheat-like grain character doesn't much play in to the nose.
As with their framboises, the kriek is all about the fruit. The cherries are beautiful, but the beer has that same pinch of acetic that really rubs me the wrong way. The higher-than-average oakiness doesn't help with it, either. Still, a fairly round, wheatslick texture and not too powerfully acidic, but maybe a bit more so than I'm looking for these days.

750mL 2018 bottle drunk April 20, 2026.
Powerful pop and incredibly carbonated after 8 years. This one smells juicier and maybe a bit less acidic than Frampaars and Framzwartje, but not by much. Telltale rich oakiness with a dash of acetic character and big, bold, intense fruit. Not much, if any, funk to this one, and in its place is just jammy fruit for days, with a bit of vanilla character from the raspberry, as well.
Rich, juicy, oaky, fruity, with a touch of funk, bit of acetic character and a light body that could stand to be a bit bigger to withstand all of this acidity. Like its brethren, it's high acid stuff that I really wish wouldn't display any acetic character. It's far from egregious, but still noticeable enough to give a slight paint thinner burn. But the fruit is so well-done in FF that it's hard to be too upset.

750mL 2018 bottle drunk 4/14/26.
Intense fruit still shining strong after 8 years. Very impressive. Similar to Frampaars, it's very oaky, with a light acetic element, good amount of lactic and mild Brett. The blackcap raspberries here seem extra juicy, even moreso than the red ones used in Frampaars. Not too funky, but lambic-like for sure.
Soft, oily, rich and fruity with lots of fruit tannin and a juicy berry character that seems to have intertwined itself with the oak. There is a bit of acetic character here, as there was with Frampaars. Constructively, that should go, but it's easier said than done. And it's very minor, thankfully. This is a single barrel and I think the lack of blending exposes a bit of thinnness here that could be corrected with blending. But again, minor. I'm very critical of all things lambic since it's my favorite style. But these are excellent beers, for sure. A shame I never made it there.

750mL 2018 bottle drunk 4/4/26.
Smells even and well-aged, without any significant oxidation. Tart acidity from lacto and deep cherry pie-like Brett. Like the Frampaars I just had, maybe there's a touch of acetic? Hard to say definitively. Mild funk and moderate oak with excellent malt/wheat character and light vanilla on the finish. Good aromatic clarity and strength.
Lightly tart up front with noticeable oak, but it's soft and rounded with easygoing tannin and just a touch of toast. Vanilla character from the barrel, as well as malt and wheat creates a sumptuous texture and there's no big acidity here at all. Just an easygoing tartness that balances gently. Super mellow, flavorful, polished. Very gueuze-like, albeit no big funk. That seems to be FFG's only missing piece; but that seems to only come with decades of brewing, cooperage, culture, etc...can't just create a Cantillon with the snap of your fingers. Anyways, this is obviously blended to perfection and made with a lot of care. Nice to get to try these guys, even if I'm rather late to the party (party's over).

2017 750mL bottle drunk 3/27/26.
Brilliant, juicy, authentic raspberry emanates forth as soon as the cork is popped, and after 9 years, it's still a vigorous pop. Excellent mix of fruit, malt and light oak without overdoing it anywhere. Not overly funky, but still has some funk to it.
In the mouth it still has a considerable amount of juicy, fruity, deep raspberry character and, initially, it's followed by a big oakiness. Chewy, wheat-like textures help soak up the acidity, but there's no acetic and the lactic character isn't too aggressive. Thankfully, as it progresses, the oak seems to relax (or the palate accustoms, or both). So many standouts here and it DOES feel like I'm drinking a lambic. Sure, it doesn't have the deep funk, poop, horse, barn of the best Belgian lambics, but it feels elevated from just your average barrel-aged American wild ale. Very structured and polished without the brutal acidity of a lot of American examples. And the fact that this is in flawless condition, with zero oxidation after 9 years speaks to its quality, as well. Excellent flavors, fruit intensity, body, attenuation, carbonation. Maybe a bit more acid than I'd like, but I think that's more my tastes having changed over the years to prefer lower acidity. This is not a highly acidic lambic, by any means.

Bottle at the DCBeer May share. Poured a very clear orange color with a small white head. Aroma was tart and flavorful. Really nice tasty grain. Light funky barnhouse notes. Good stuff.
