Can split at the farewell to Monica tasting, Watford, from HOTM online 20/09/24. Golden to light amber with a lasting just off white head. Nose is grass, pine needle, grapefruit, bitter orange, melon. Taste comprises soft malts, orange peel, grass, pine needle, hint of caramel, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with grassy hop bitterness. Okay old skool leaning IPA.

20th September 2024
Bottleshare at Chez Frog. Can. Almost clear burnished gold beer, good cream colour head. Airy and fairly dry palate, decent fine minerally carbonation. Creamy sweet malts. Ripe citrus, a little peel. Light finish. West Coast stodge, encapsulates almost everything I don't like about this style, but at least no caramel malts. Also, never a big fan of Jester King, unfortunately this doesn't make me a convert.

Can, undated or illegibly-dated, drunk 9/16/24. Very lightly-hazed, peach-honey-bronze. Small, white head, quickly to edges. Interesting yeast with heavy earth, spice and mineral. Clean and robust with lightly woody, lightly spicy hops behind it. Biscuit and cracker from the malts are polished and attenuated. No resin or alcohol noted, but almost a bit more Belgian pale ale than American IPA. The Belgian character continues with clove, hints of burnt banana and mild citrus. Definitely fruity hops maybe a touch vague, but appreciated to help take some of the focus off of all of this yeast character. Malt is amply deep, but very highly attenuated. Solid little Belgian IPA. As good or better than most I've had from Belgium. The spicy phenols never overpower/overdry the palate as there's ample sumptuous/soft malt to soak it up.

Canned 7/9/24, drunk 9/12/24. Clear, muted brass-blonde. Large, white head, slowly recedes. Some lemongrass character and/or ginger but still a reasonable amount of Sacch character showing black pepper and plaster. Biscuit, dough, honey. Balanced, though certainly ginger-forward. Ginger is strong, acidic, juicy almost with plentiful malt, good attenuation and light honey-like malt character. Gentle saison notes with no bubble gum or clove. But yeah, a lot of ginger...I see it's supposed to be based on a ginger shandy but then maybe don't call it a farmhouse ale...

Can from Tavour. Pours clear light gold with a large white head. Lemon aroma with a hint of zest. Near med body. Flavor is the aroma with enough ginger to be noticeable. Dry with a bit of astringency. Zest/ginger subs for hop bitter. Refreshing.
