Bottle, 75cl, at TFODRBSG 2012. An almost clear one, golden in color and with a small, off-white head. Lightly citrusy nose with a touch of yeast and maltyness. Some spiced notes. A bit on the grainy in the flavor, but quite pleasant anyway. Citrusy hints, spices notes and a generic fruityness too. Rather thin on the palate, as expected, dry and also a bit heavy on the carbonation. Some bitterness chiming in towards the end. A quite wonderful low alcohol beer, well suited as a lawnmower beer or as a thirst quencher. Gimme more. 120818

Acquired in a trade just yesterday. Enjoyed in my trusty Harpoon glass at room temperature.

A - Bronze cloudy appearance. Huge carbonation of 4 fingers of creamy white puffy head. Excellent lacing and head retention although maybe TOO much head retention.

S - I get some pine, honey and citrus on the nose. Hints of pineapple.

T - I’m getting great tropical / sweet American hops, hints of wheat and honey. There’s some pine cone notes, candi sugar and oranges. It’s a very complex beer with this really nice alcohol booziness on the finish.

M - 80% carbonation, medium body and boozy finish. I was expecting dry champagne finish but it finishes more like a watered down whisky.

O - This is a great tasting beer. One that I could sip on all day.

Bottle sample @ 2nd RBBSG, August 11th 2012. Courtesy of 77ships.

Cloudy orange to beige beer, very big aery head, stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, exotic fruits, pineapple, citrus, grapefruit, ripe mango. MF: ok carbon, light to medium body. Taste: pretty citric start, bitter hops, little piny, hint of bretta? Bit sourish, somewhat grassy. Aftertaste: bitter hops, citrus, somewhat grassy. Pleasant session ale.

Courtesy of sparky! It pours hazy murky yet deep copper with full off white to tan head. The aroma comes across as rather tart and yeasty with spots of yeasty spiciness here and there. Behind those notes, just behind the tartness is a sliver of vague hop bitterness. The taste is similar as it is mostly tartness with thin rings of farmhouse like yeasty spices and a vague hoppiness that seems to come and go. I think I’m tasting what hop essence this is and before I’m able to consider what it is I’m tasting it’s gone. All in all this one seem to be at odds with itself as the various notes tugged rather than hugged.

21/07 RBESG Grand Tasting, 0.75 l bottle. It poured pitch black body with a smaller brownish head. Nice pungent aroma of roasted malt like coffee, chicory, chocolate, also quite alcoholic. Very nice coffee profile in the flavor, extends to dark chocolate, toffee, some licorice, peat, without any hops to possibly disrupt its smooth, full body. Long, only slightly warming finish, sweetish chocolate. Plus one to overall as of the name and design, but anyhow, it’s a very nice and tasty imperial stout!
