Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

Bottle from the brewery. Jet black, medium brown head. One of the thickest beers I've ever seen. Literally, looked and had the consistency of old motor oil. Aroma is intense burnt sugar, soy, licorice and molasses. High bitterness, intense roast, alcohol is well hidden. Barrel. Notes impressive, very oaky, vanilla and wood are plentiful, but not over powering. Complex, and intense.
