Bronze colour. The aroma is bready-caramelly. Vaguely sweet, earthy, toasty with a fairly dry finish.

swing top bottle 500ml. -Three weeks out of BBE. Dark amber coloured, small tan head that stays for a while, caramellish nose. Slight roasted malt, caramel and subdued coffee but quite thin and watery. Bitter and a bit metallic finish. So so schwarzbier, overated.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Flavours of chocolate, vanilla, licorice, some herbs and a little coffee. Dry, smoky finish. Not too bad.

Bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Deep black, nice head. Starts malty, modest sweet, a little bit smoky from the beginning. Also spicy, some caramel notes. Well balanced finish, warming, quite drinkable. Good beer!
