Cycled into town (Bamberg) from our campsite just outside at Bug 16-06-10 had this on tap at the brewpub Pours sunshine orange, its hazy but not as hazy as some Hefeweizen, there is a nice white head atop. There is a slight smokiness to this, its wheaty with a dab of banana, likeable stuff. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cycled into town (Bamberg) from our campsite just outside at Bug 16-06-10 had this on tap at the brewpub Pours gold to light amber stunningly clear with a white head atop. Soft in mouth but the strength is very apparent, good bitterness and a heavy malty presence. This is a good beer that drinks far to easy for the abv. A6 A5 T7 P4 Ov13 3.5

Bottle. Light golden color; big head. Strong malt aroma, slightly sweet. Malty, strong bock taste, but with a lot of hoppy bitterness. Very interestingly balanced for a hell bock. Wow! Super hoppy, almost overly hopped! It is a refreshing change from the slightly too sweet Austrian heller bocks I’ve tried. This might be the best hell bock I’ve tried. The malt comes through beautifully once it warms a bit…the hops kick butt. This is grand.

Tap @ Cafe Michaelsberg, on the far (north) side of the monastery. Bright chestnut with a tan head. This has a fairly rich, bready aroma with molasses accents. Soft body, maybe a bit metallic with good hearty bread character and light molasses. Nice bock.
