An amber beer with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and straw. The flavor is also sweet malty with strong notes of caramel and some hops. The end is dry and the sweetness lingers for a long time.

2011-02-12, draught at the brauhaus, 6-5-6-3-13=33
Beautiful copper color; generous head. Both the aroma and flavor are mildly malty, and a bit grassy; the flavor is moderately sweet, and the body well constructed. Correct bitterness. It doesn’t have a distinctive character, but it’s a solid beer.

2005-02-12, bottle, 5-3-5-3-9=25
Amber color. Caramel aroma, a little honeyish. Very ordinary beer, just strong caramel.

Cookie, banana and yeast aroma. Handsome cloudy golden a lot of bubbles, stable white head. Banana, spice and cookielike malt in the flavor again, spicy aftertaste. Medium body, refreshing and nice Weisse.

Slight burned cocoa aroma. Ebony brown, massive brown head. Burned coffee and cocoa in the taste and a with a bitterhop finish. This schwarzbier actually has so much burned flavor that you are temted to compare it to a stout or porter. This is however not what you should do in my oppinion; it should be compared to other beers of the same style and here it is safe to say it overall is one of the most flavorfull Schwarzbier.

Re-rate at Klosterbräu, bottled version was not good. Neutral aroma. Pale gold, low head w. lace. Cookie, yeast and malt notes. Thinish body, somewhat dry hop exit. ok, but not fantastic.

Re-rate at Klosterbräu Bitter and toasted nose. Cloudy rust color, low head which clings to glass. Bitterhop, burned malt, cookies, honey and a bit cobwebbed - it tastes as old as the braunbier style :-) Medium body, carbonation tingles the back of the mouth. Soft mouthfeel and exit.

Light amber; big, toasty nose like hot buttered biscuits; full body but the promise of the aroma doesn’t quite pan out - it’s still malty, but lighter, less evocative.

Tasted at the brewery, this is variable. It has been a dryish, pleasurable beer but it has also been a buttery disgrace. Not sure how to score this high degree of variability.

Amber. Sweetish, clean and very bitter. Braunbier is a style more or less indigenous to this tiny brewery, and perhaps most similar to kellerbier.

Golden coloured. Fruity with restrained sweetness and big malt profile. Nice bitterness. A full flavoured, complex and very tasty maibock

Nut brown & hazy. Soft and creamy with vanilla aroma. Not very estery, and less assertive than many other beers at this tiny Bamberg brewer.
