330 ml bottle into chalice, best by 3/10/2015. Pours murky reddish brown color with a 1 finger foamy cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings to the glass, with a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of huge raisin, prune, fig, molasses, bread, toffee, earth, herbal, and yeast spiciness. Very nice and complex aromas with nice strength. Very big on the dark fruits. Taste of raisin, caramel, prune, molasses, biscuit, toffee, herbal, earth, and yeast spices. Light dark fruit tang on the finish; with lingering notes of dark fruit, toffee, molasses, biscuit, and earthy spiciness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice flavor balance and complexity; with plenty of robust flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a nice creamy, slick, and slightly prickly mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong dark ale. Nice flavor balance, depth, and complexity; and extremely smooth to sip on. No complaints, very enjoyable.

En fyra år gammal flaska. Stora härlig dofter av madeira, torkad frukt, rom och marsipan. Smaken går i samma stil men är också lätt fadd. Fruktiga övertoner av lichi, röda bär och vingummi. Lätt kandissockersötma. Mums.

Last of the three, certainly made an impact - wouldn’t recommend doing all three in one go at the end of a session! Not very clever, let me tell you! Pours dark with a white head that quickly dissipated to leave a dull looking drink, but the lack of a head probably helped as the first sniff really packed a punch - a heady mix of boozy fruit, sweet spices and almost like a Christmas pudding. Taste has a hit of rum-like alcohol and again the sweet and spicy fruit. Good mouth feel, thick and meaty, just the way I like my beer. I like this... a lot.

Second of the three tonight - richer smell about this one, dark forest and cake fruits. Taste a bit sweet and fruity, feels warm and spicy on the throat - fortified wine-like. Good little liquorice kick, with a syrupy mouth feel. Excellent. Bring on the 10...!

Doing all the Rocheforts today, first one is the 6 - pours a deep red / maroon with a carbonated white head. Good aroma, strong hits of ripe fruit and malts. Taste has a good kick of alcohol, not too strong though, good body with a fruity aftertaste. Very nice, and if that’s the third best of the three, I can’t wait for the next two.

Cellared and with about 2.5 years aging. Deep, dark fruit and alcohol on the nose. The alcohol takes the background as the complexity of the fruit really overwhelms in a nice way. Oil pit tar there as well. Murky brown, with a light brown head that leaves quickly - as expected due to the alcohol. Another whiff - have had it in the glass for about 20 minutes and the aroma is just fantastic. Very viscous mouthfeel. Yeast presents itself firmly on the last half of the palate with a chewy yeast and tongue covering heavy blanket. Deep plum flavor. Lots of barn as well - not a Brett led barn, but just full, massive, complexity of flavors only found in the countryside - perhaps resembling dried meadow. Alcohol present throughout, but shows most on the finish. You can wring out your tongue (by squeezing it with your teeth) minutes after a taste of this beer and still get many of the sensations. Even a slight floral appearance after many tastes.

330 ml bottle. Pours a murky brown with persistent medium head. Aromas of roasted malt and raisins. Light compared to the 8 or 10 but still full of flavor; malt, dark fruit, brown sugar, leather, tobacco, and a hint of spice. Beautiful balance.

330ml bottle. Cloudy dark amber with huge firm lasting frothy to creamy moderately lacing off-white head, collapsing to a still more dense, compact lasting layer. Yeasty aroma, slightly spicy, prickling to biting nose, minimally dry and with a touch of leather. Surprisingly unfruity. Complex taste, initially cautious and retained, then upcoming are blueberry, other slightly sweet dark fruits, some herbs and leather notes, lately effective alcohol. Everlasting sticky finish.
