More effervescent and drier than the Kriek, with a cleaner taste (none of those brutal Wyeast fake-lambic notes). Still more Lindeman's than Cantillon, but this is a very pleasant springtime refresher.

Hazy golden-tan. Fruity-hoppy aroama of blackberry, pear, wood. Similar palate with moderate woody bitterness. Strong berryish lead, with light biscuity pale malts in the background and hints of toast.

Re-rate: The cherry flavour isn’t candyish - this beer has become very dry (five years later). It has more acetic acid than one would expect of a lambic but it doesn’t detract from the character. Not overly complex as the style goes, but quite tart, clean cherry notes...it’s rounded into form and gets an upgrade in score.

Dark brown colour. The aroma is somewhat light. The flavour is lightly earthy, with only a hint of roast. There is a slight chocolate note, still a hint of diacetyl despite the yeast change. It’s not my favourite, and next to the Yaletown Velvet it was not even in the same sport.

Well-balanced, toffeeish, toasty example of the style. Clear amber colour. Slight diacetyl, but doesn’t detract in this case.
