Pours pitch black with good lacing and head. Initial aroma of booze and whiskey-like malt. Comes off a little sweet in finish. Creamy texture. Light roast malt in aroma with some coffee. On tap at St. Augustine’s.

Not bad at all. A little unbalanced towards the sweet end if the spectrum, the palate is syrupy for my liking. Pours translucent maroon with good lacing and initial head. Has lots of sour plum and crab apple. Some barrel astringency in finish, but comes off well. This grows on me after a few sips. Tap at Alibi Room. 2015 update. Not sweet anymore. Tangy and great. Apricot and sour plum. Tangy finish. Much better.

On tap. Pours a slightly hazy gold with light head. Aromas of malt and peaches. Flavours of stoned fruit, pine, toffee, and citrus. Light bitter finish. Nice.

Draft - Citrus orange and grapefruit with a bit of resin. Clear pale gold with a thin white head. Very dry, resinous but some nice sweet citrus flavors. A decent IPA, I was lucky to get some right from the fermenter once that was sublime. I think if I had a fresher batch it would be much better.

On cask at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Nose is very powerful, full of juniper berries which totally dominate - not much else to be detected. Flavour is similar, with loads of juniper berries, dirt, earthy and citrus hops still pounding through quite prominently. I had low expectations for this, which were far exceeded. Great earthy, fruity IPA.

Black with creamy tan head. Neutral nose. Palate of alcohol, brown sugar and sweet malt. Not the best effort

Cask at Central City Winter Cask Fest '13, pours a hazy golden orangey amber with small bubbles of head. Aroma of sour fruits sort of a vinous presence and vinegar. Flavour of tart / soured figs, a bit of vinegar and a little acidity. Not the most well-crafted for something like this, with lots of vinegar and acidity, the former of which especially I don't want in my sours. OK, but flawed.

Cask at Central City Winter Cask Fest '13, pours a murky reddish brown with a small tan head. Aroma of subtle cherries, a bit of chocolate and cocoa powder. Flavour of chocolate covered cherries - very well-balanced without much body. Quite a light body, but full-flavoured. Good stuff.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Muddy light amber color, with a strange red twig on the top of the small foam. Very nice aroma, delicate fruity and sour, a touch of lemon, heather and sweat. Lean and smooth mouthfeel; some malt and wheat flavor, with a woody character, moderate astringency, strong bitterness and pleasant mild raspberry touch, just a hint of sourness.
Nothing of a Berliner Weisse, but it’s a very nice brew; in the summer it would be a blast.

Cask at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
The color is dark brown, almost black, the head is frothy and small of course; a bit colder than a British cask, the temperature seems right. It has a mild aroma of caramel, darker sugars, and very light herbs. Good mouthfeel, soft and round; the caramel flavor is very good, there are traces of darker caramel too, and a pleasant herbal presence (rhubarb candies, Italian Amaro digestives), well compounded by a light sweetness; correct bitterness. The final is quite long, blend of caramel and bittering herbs, balanced.
Very well brewed.
