Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

473ml can. Pours a clear mahogany with a medium, foamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Sweet aroma of toasted bready malt, caramel, raisin and oak. Sweet flavour of toasted bready malt, caramel, raisin, prune, vanilla, oak, light alcohol and spicy hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Malt forward and delicious.

[notes] Poured from bottle @ FHF 2023 (Aug 12, 2023). Hazy gold with small white head. Rhubarb overpowers a bit here, mild funk, okay.

473mL can. Pours clear, dark mahagony with fast-fading head. Sweet toffee and brown bread malts, toasted nuts, dates, and dried dark berries on the nose. Flavour has a bready malt base, dry toffee, dried berries giving a touch of tannic astringency. The palate is full-bodied with a smoothness I want to attribute to the oak. Very nice.

Poured from 250mL can. Very dark brown with small beige head. Dark dried fruit aroma. Taste is more boozy, woody, and medicinal with some feint orange rind in there. A bit too herbal, but I can see the layers, just doesn't come together for me.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Beautiful mahogany colour, with amber-red lights; large tan head. Aroma of malt and caramel, with notes of leather and dark fruits, then alcohol when getting warmer (7.5). Decent body strength, it's lean, with light residual sweetness; caramel flavour, feeling of long boil, but there's more caramel than malt depth (some German Doppelbocks have better malt depth), and so in the final it gets weaker, and showing more evident dark caramel and burnt sugar character.
Overall, it's very clean and pleasant.

May 23, 2025 (7/3/7/3/14=3.4): Poured from 330mL bottle. Dark mahogany brown with no head. Dark sugars and dried fruits, estery bubblegum, not much barrel left, but feint booze and wood. Average.

Dec 28, 2024 (8/4/7/3/14=3.6): Poured from 330mL bottle. Dark amber brown with minimal light beige head. Lots of dark sugars and dried fruits on the nose, some feint vanilla and brandy notes. Taste is bit of a bland version of the nose. Lacks follow through. Okay.

375mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany, no head. Aroma smells more like a spirit, with plenty of brandy, vanillin, and dark dried fruits. Flavour is much less impressive, with barely any flavour depth or complexity -- there's hot spirit, light vanillin maybe, not much else. A quad, really? It's alright, but far from Temporal's best.

473mL can, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bready malt, some dark dried fruits, toasted nuts, and a hint of oak. Flavour is dry, malty and somewhat boozy, with plenty of dry oak, bready malt, a hint of dried dark fruits, and light toasted nuttiness. The oak works nicely to dry this out and the malt backbone is exactly right for the style. Very good.
