Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

Dark brown, toffee, light chocolate and a boozy bourbon note. Somewhat thin base, light acidity, with decent bourbon character. Guessing this is a “if you have one, drink it now” type of proposition. This one is funny - at first it comes across as refined but then it feels more chaotic and unbalanced as it goes. I wish this one came together a bit more.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with very light head. Aromas of deep dark sugars, raisins and other dark fruit, apple brandy, graham wafers and caramel malts. Flavors of apple brandy, charred oak, raisins, dry caramel, candi sugar and toasted malts. ABV leading and slightly distracting though was off to a great start. Still a quad? Maybe a bit in the flavor though barrel aging has overshadowed the base. Still very tasty…

Dark brown with a couple of bubbles. Cherry, vinous, lots of deep malt sugars and fruitiness. There’s interesting depth here. Big body on the base, but chaotic barrel character. I mean it’s good barrel character but definitely chaotic. Ultimately I think the treatment makes this.

330 ml bottle.Pours a very dark brown with short fizzy tan head. Aromas of amburana barrel, vanilla, oaky bourbon, chocolate nougat, graham crackers and slick roasted malts. Flavors follow same but with additional rich coffee. A really nice balance between the barrels. Excellent.

Dark brown, with just a thin head. The aroma is all about the bitters, with a bit of rum in behind that. On the palate, herbaceous most certainly. A grab bag of thyme, juniper berries, spruce, gentian and whatever else is in there. The base beer has some sweetness, figs, maybe caramel, though not the utmost complexity. The bitters is all over this, and thankfully it lends a good character. Just looking for a bit more overall depth here.

Dark brown, with a thin head. Aroma has a lot going on - coconut, amburana and bourbon in that order, on top of the sweet dark sugar imperial stout base. On the palate, the amburana spiciness is pronounced, the alcohol rolls through with some warmth, and then there's a bit of that coconut adding another element. Nothing super refined - each individual element stands on its own but without much complementarity between them.
