Bottle. Pours orange - copper. Aroma is malt and hop, though neither is over-powering. Taste is good solid Pale Ale. Nice malty body with hop finish.

Pour is golden / copper, not too much head. Aroma is bright hop, with some sweetness. Taste of malt and caramel. Finish is a touch sour, after taste is a touch boozy. Nothing special.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby chestnut color with a large tan head. The aroma was light sour and tangy malts with a hint of caramel. The flavor is light caramel, tangy malts and finishes up with vague bitterness and a hint of caramel. A bit too thin and too bland. This beer has promise but fails to deliver.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very pale yellow color with a large white head. The aroma is sour, tangy and vaguely skunky. There is very little body and the beer is horrendously overcarbonated. The favor has vague sour tangy macro malts with a hint of skunk. Drain pour.

Sampled from a 12 oz clear bottle this beer poured a chestnut color with a small tan head. The aroma is sour tangy macro malts. The flavor is sour and tangy macro malts with a long smooth middle and a slightly bitter finish. Somewhat bland but quite drinkable.

Pour is a cloudy brown with a large white head. Aroma is decent with some roasted malts with a touch of hops. Flavor is also pretty decent. Bready, malty some caramel and nutty. Nice attempt.

On cask at the 2006 Autumn Beer Review. Dark brown. Roasted malt aroma. More like an alt beer than a stout Full body, and some oak in the flavor. It is a very good beer, especially for a macro brewer. ------------------Draught at the Dubliner in Nov. 06. Very smooth, and significant roasted malt and some coffee. Quite good and one of Schell’s best products.

Kinda "bocky." There is lots of malt, caramel, bready Octobery goodness. A standard Oktoberfest, but decent body. Not as sweet as some but hardly bitter, and unusually good for a macro brewery and surely one of only two macro breweries I respect.

Not too bitter, but is very similar to pale yellow american beers. The label says all malt. Perhaps the flavor has a bit more than typical mass brewed. This is better than the adirondac saranac vienna I tasted recently. I think Auggie has a pretty good handle on flavor with his variations of ’Schell’ beers.

Pale ale? Not quite. Much darker than their maifest doppelbock. A little bitter. Actually a lighter dark beer. My label was different than what’s pictured. The word ’german’ wasn’t on it and the letters were green. Also, I was very happy with my variety case from Schell; pale ale, octoberfest, pilsner, caramel boch, firebrick, maifest, doppelbock, zommerfest, etc. Wow what a variety…..loved it. Schell has some of the best looking labels, too! If i’m to give a pale yellow beer a rating above 2, it’s good!
