I’ve tasted lots of different beers lately. This is one of the better ones. Absolutely nothing offensive. Here is the situation; it could have a bit more in flavor but that may change it’s perfect balance of enjoyability and drinkability. Couldn’t even taste the 6% alky in this one, dangerously smooth! Also, I was very happy with my variety case from Schell; pale ale, octoberfest, pilsner, caramel boch, firebrick, maifest, doppelbock, zommerfest, etc. Wow what a variety…..loved it. Schell has some of the best looking labels, too! And... I think they got a good handle on balanced flavor. This is the old Schell Bock with just a new label.

Not bad but I thought it not too bitter but just a little. I was very happy with my variety case from Schell; pale ale, octoberfest, pilsner, double boch, caramel boch, firebrick, maifest, doppelbock, zommerfest, etc. Wow what a variety…..loved it.

I only found this slightly better than the average pale yellow american beer. However, I was very happy with my variety case from Schell; pale ale, octoberfest, pilsner, double boch, caramel boch, firebrick, maifest, doppelbock, zommerfest, etc. Wow what a variety…..loved it.

For some reason, I was expecting a little more sweetness since doppelboch has a BV rating of 65. Had a little more bitterness than expected but was not bitter per se. Very dark brownish orange in my three stooges glass. Over all not bad for a dark beer and the price.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Concerniing my Schell variety case: I was very happy with my variety in the case from Schell; pale ale, octoberfest, pilsner, double boch, caramel boch, firebrick, maifest, doppelbock, zommerfest, etc. Wow what a variety…..loved it.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cost was about $1 per bottle from JR Beer Warehouse in Rochester PA.

Clear reddish brown in colour, with a moka quickly dissipating head. Sweet caramel with hints of oxidation, and fruits, like prunes or plums. In mouth, a sweet malt with nutty notes, no hops, a bit harsh in aftertaste. Rather light bodied. Bottle from Piscator, merci Kris!

on Tap. Pours a light yellow or gold topped off with a light white head. Very corn like most have said.

On Tap. Pours a nice amber color topped off with a nice cream head. there is a hint of citrus and a hint of hops.

Slightly hazy amber-copper color, thin creamy buff head. Sweet aroma of flower nectar, caramel, and touches of banana. Sweet, bready body, strong carbonation, again with hints of banana in addition to dark fruit. Grassy, slightly bitter finish. Better than BMC stuff, but not an alternative to better craft beers on the shelves at most stores.

This is a pleasant surprise and one of Schell’s best. Dark brown and no head. After many recent Czech dunkels, this beer compares favorably. Sweet, nutty aroma. Roasted malt and more nuts in the flavor. Low bitterness. Medium palate.
