Can from Aldi. It pours clear dark amber with a small, foamy white cap. The aroma is sweet, oily, resinous, candied citrus, peachy, toffee and earth. The taste is dry, oily, bitter, resinous, pithy, orange peel, grapefruit, peppery spice, earth, light tannin, slightly soapy and burnt toffee with a drying, resinous finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Fine enough.

Black beer, tan head disappears almost immediately. Toasty malt aroma. Tastes of malt, a little milk chocolate and there's a creaminess to it as well as maybe a little aniseed coming through in the finish.

Cask at The Halfway House. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The aroma is sweet, oily, bready, grainy, very grainy and soapy citrus. The taste is dry, grainy, oily, slick, biscuit, very grainy, raw, soapy citrus cereal and peanuts with a dry, grainy finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Hard to drink to be honest. Too oily, grainy and thick. Substandard.
