Nowt special just a really solid traditional bitter. Looked exactly how a pint should look too in a nice chunky jar.

Cask @ St Ronans, Innerleithen
Golden caramel brown, clear, thin white head, good lacing
Aroma - light toffee, light fruity malts, hint of raisin, bit of dough
Taste - Caramel malts, touch of burnt toffee, quite rich toffee malts, some soft dark fruits, light bread dough, background of a bit earthy bitter hop, nice traditional flavours
Palate - soft carb, thin to medium body, bitter palate. Finish - biscuitity malts come thorough, soft bitter hops, bit of roasted bitterness in the linger, clean finish
Overall - I thought this was a pretty good bitter

On tap @ Teuchters. Pours a hazy golden with a decent head. The nose has grapefruit, lemon and a pungent thing going on. The taste has a little more of this ’sweatiness’ but the grapefruit is the most dominant note. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a fairly clean finish. Overall, a solid pale ale.

Half pint before noon at Halfway House where it was served from hand-pulled cask. Thin, lacing-head. Clear, dark amber in body colour. Smell of fruity hops and dark caramel. Ditto taste profile, lemony hops with a caramel touch pleasantly offset by late arriving bitterness. Nice (Edinburgh, 14.04.2012).

Half pint, hand-pulled from cask at Guildford Arms. Nice appearance with a deep and clear golden-brown body. Low, stable white head. Leafy hops and caramel malts to the nose. More resin-like hops in flavour mixed with mid-sweet malts. Smooth bitter tail. Satisfying (Edinburgh, 09.04.2012)

Cask ale at Guildford Arms, half pint. Crystal clear, copper coloured body. Tiny, steady white head. Spotty lace. Mild, malt-fruity nose. Moderate taste profile of juicy malts.. Distant bitter ending. Ok, rather anonymous, though (Edinburgh, 09.04.2012).

Cask at Old Blackfriars, Aberdeen. Pours clear copper with a tight, creamy, off-white head. Subtle roast in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor, some roasty malts, slight minerals, a bit of earthy bitterness, some burnt toffee. Medium bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Finishes lightly dry and fairly roasty, some dark sugar sweetness, lightly tosted grass. This beer is impressively odd. It looks nothing like a stout, but if you closed your eyes and smelled and sipped it, you would probably say this is a stout. That or a rather roasty ESB. Either way, it’s a pretty nice beer.
