On tap at The Barley Merchant, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma reveals a pretty revolting whiskey barrel character, reminiscent of standard JD — basically nothing but cheap whiskey and a thin, weak malt base. Flavour is pretty vile, with revolting JD-like barrels. Totally ruined by the barrels.

Hazy and quite pale. Medium head. Light body, slight wheaty note, mild grape juice. Restrained.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark mahogany colour, compact caffelatte head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel. Good body, smooth mouthfeel; it's moderately sweet, with strong caramel accent; hints of vanilla; gentle alcohol.
Good.

16oz @ Ryan's shared with Alex (thx for the beer, man!) hoping that allergy effects won't affect my taste, hehe. Appearance: brown with a beige head. Aroma: chocolate, dark fruits, some roasted malts. Taste: along the same lines, caramel and charred oak notes, some grassy notes, low to moderately sweet. Finishes with some hoppy bitterness. Overall: pretty good.

Poured from 473mL can. Dark brown with minimal beige head. Mild caramel, sweet fruitiness in the background, feint oak character, okay.

Can: Poured a deep copper color ale with a large brown foamy head with limited retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep roasted malt notes with some blackberry and cherry fruity notes. Taste is a mix of fruity notes of blackberry and cherry notes with some roasted malt and some tart notes with some acidity noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Lots of different flavors in this beer but less acidity may have been better.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with short foamy tan head. Aromas of dark caramel, chocolate nougat, and sweet roasted malts. Flavors of salty caramel, as advertised, plus nutty chocalate, vanilla, subtle charred oak, and more soft sweet roasted malts. Saltiness is quite evident especially in the finish, but overall quite good.

Black, lasting tan head. Vanilla nose, hints of fruit. Slightly boozy, vanilla, wood and light roast. Not bad but too woody as it warms.

Lata. Dark brown. Thin head. Toasty aroma, light vanilla, and some fruitiness. Mellow dark sugars. Thin for style...well for the style as it's understood in 2023. Burnt sugars, light fruitiness. Put it together it doesn't really get me anywhere I need to be. There's potential but if you want English-style burnt sugars, I recommend lower abv and more residuals...like 5% rye, get all chewy, and Fuller's yeast or fruitier. And minerals in the water. Take me back to Cornwall. This beer can get to fuck yeah territory, but details matter.
