50 cl. bottle at café in Warsaw. Clear, deep golden colour with an amber tint. Big, frothy white head. Sweet aroma with butterscotch, grasses, hay and a light herbal note. Taste is light sweet. Medium body, soft and texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with caramel malts grasses and some earthy hops. Okay Pilsner.

Bottle from Tuzex, Berlin. – Colour is deep gold. Aroma is sickly sweet, with an artificial note which is characteristic of beers brewed with adjuncts. Indeed, this one contains sugar as well as malted barley, according to the back label. It starts sweet with notes of banana (which reminded me of a wheat beer) and with an unpleasant artificial sweetness. The middle is rather empty, without grainy or malty aromas. Unpleasantly bitter finish without hop aromas. - Quite disappointing stuff. This is very different from what I had on tap at the brewery restaurant in Maly Rohosec some days ago, or rather, it is another beer altogether. Why did they have to doctor the stuff before bottling it?

Bottle. Pours clear copper brown with small but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of caramel malt and hops with notes of yeast. Bitter, hoppy flavour with regular notes of malt and a touch of caramel. Bitter, slightly metallic and cardboardlike finish. Drinkable but nothing particularly impressive.
