"Onkel Jakob Pils", Fläschlein von Edeka, Altomünster, 8.5.2025. - Goldgelb, blank. - In der Nase schlanke, recht blasse zitronige Hopfenherbe. - Antrunk schlank und frisch zitronig hopfenherb. Malz ist kaum zu spüren. Gut rezent. Im Abgang ausreichende aber etwas schematische Hopfenherbe. - Erfrischend aber dünn, dazu nur blaß gehopft: das Pils vom Maierbräu ist bis dato das schwächste Bier aus dieser sympathischen Brauerei.

Nach dem vorzüglichen Export Hell (und ebenso vorzüglichen Ochsenbäckchen) noch das "Alto Dunkel", wieder vom Faß in der Maierbräu, Altomünster. - Kastanienrotbraun, klar. - In der Nase recht kerniges Dunkelmalz, Vollkornbrot, Waldbeerenkompott. - Antrunk eher schlank dunkel- und röstmalzig mit feinem Mokka. Dezente Süße, Waldfrucht, gut abgeschmeckt mit zarter Säure; sehr dezente, blaß zitrusfruchtige Hopfenherbe. Perlend rezent aber nur annähernd vollmundig. Im Abgang mild röstmalzbitter und nur vage herbal hopfenherb. - Nach dem schönen hellen Export tatsächlich leicht enttäuschend und ein weiteres Indiz, daß ich besser bei einem für gut befundenen Bier bleiben sollte, statt die begrenzte Genußfähigkeit mit dem Abhaken weiterer zu strapazieren. "Export Hell", vom Faß in der Maierbräu, Altomünster. - Goldgelb, klar. - Im Antrunk schön kremig, ein wenig fülliger aber nur verhalten hellmalzig - es ist eben ein Export - und sehr fein zitronig hopfenherb. Milder rezent, vollmundig, ganz leicht trocken: ein Bier mit minimalem Trinkwiderstand, das einfach nur "läuft". Im Abgang leise aber völlig ausreichende herbale Hopfenherbe. - Sehr rundes, delikates Export, das trotz sortentypisch zurückhaltender Hopfung überzeugt. (30.3.2025.)

Bottle at the Lions club Entenrennen. Spicy grain nose. Medium body, dry chewiness, mellow grassy, light honey retronasal.

Bottle picked up from REWE, Altomunster, Saturday 18th March 2023, after a lovely afternoon at Xenofon and Anastasia's. Pours reddish brown with an off white head, simple light maltiness on the nose, light soft mouthfeel, watery caramel flavour. This is one of my least favourite styles and this is a very accurate indicator of a fairly unexciting style.

Bottle picked up from REWE, Altomünster, consumed at home Sunday 19th March 2023 listening to Kangaroo Moon - Between Two Worlds (they're an old festival band that I recall from the late eighties/early nineties), this album is from 2009, it seems that their best years are behind them :-( Loz is baking bread and I am cooking Paella later. Pours light amber with a large frothy white head of foam, good clarity, nice maltiness, a light chewy caramel and toffee edge, but with a little bitterness, fine but not setting my world alight.

On tap at the brewery tap Altomunster, Saturday 18th March 2023, after a lovely afternoon at Xenofon and Anastasia's. Pours yellow with a white head light fruity nose, some clear banana touches, a little tongue tickle from the carbonation. It's a good Hefe Weisse, Loz thinks it's a little sweet, I think not.

Aroma is of a toffee boiled sweet, very sweet and a little bit cloying, soft mouthfeel, a little thick in the mouth, it's okay but not really rocking my boat, a touch too sweet without much else, looks like this is last years batch as BBD is 20.04.23
