Description
The beer of Val Dieu is synonymous of quality and authenticity. It is the only Belgian abbey beer to be 100% brewed in a living abbey such as the famous Belgian Trappist beers. The monks of the Abbey of Val Dieu are the ones who are at the origin of the beers which are brewed today on the site. Historically, the Cistercian monks were famous for their qualities as brewers. The monks of Val Dieu are in line with this reputation.

Pours a hazy dark golden/orange with a white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, fruits, some hops and spices. Medium sweetness. Not bad at all, but I like my winter/christmas ales a bit heavier and spicier.

Slightly hazy yellow/golden with a white head. Standard Belgian blonde aroma of fruits, yeast and spices, coriander, some hop. Flavour is medium sweet. Decent but typical.

Aroma of sweet dark malt, brown sugar, nuts, candy sugar, ripe dark fruit. Flavour is sugary sweetness, a bit too much for my taste. A bit thin and overly sweet.
