Bottle. Gold with a white head that's soon a cm. Nice cracker and biscuit aroma matched with less convincing notes - some cardboard with the floral and spices. Lightish bodied and clean with crackery malt, the slightest touch of richness and firm, spicy bitterness. Finish makes up for the cheapish aroma. OK.

“Eschweger Klosterbräu Export“, Flasche (50 cl) von tegut, Witzenhausen. - Satt goldgelb, blank; vom Pils optisch nicht zu unterscheiden. - In der Nase zart karamellige helle Malzsüße, Bierwürze, ranzige Haselnuß, zartes faules Obst. - Antrunk leicht süßlich hellmalzig mit Anklängen an Plastik. Erinnert von ferne an Orangenlimonade, wäre da nicht diese matte muffige Herbe. Milder rezent, ein klein wenig vollmundig. Im Abgang schwache, plumpe Herbe, die in ihrer Leere deutlich den Hopfenextrakt verrät. Zarte faulig-ranzige Fehlaromen, feuchte Pappe. - Noch übler als das Eschweger Pils. Hier schmeckt man den Niedergang einer ganzen Region.

“Eschweger Klosterbräu Pils“, Flasche (50 cl) von tegut, Witzenhausen. - Satt goldgelb, blank. - In der Nase eher billig anmutende Hopfenextrakt-Herbe, derbe Zitronenschale, Anklänge an Scheuerpulver. - Antrunk dünn mit kratziger Zitronenschale und plumper, ruppiger Herbe vom Hopfenextrakt. Etwas milder rezent, dünn im Mund, leicht trocken. Im Abgang nicht besonders kräftige, stumpf-schwefelige Bittere. Ranzig-bitterer Nachtrunk. - Enttäuschend billig gemachtes Pilsner.

Bottle looks very simple, a bit old styled. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts mild, malty, modest dry. Light metallically. Finish still mild. Could show more character. Okay.

12th May 2017: 0.3 litre on-tap in some random bar, Witzenhausen: sat in their biergarden enjoying the warming afternoon sun while waiting for the Schinkel’s Brewpub to open. Usual pilsner golden pour: clean and clear with a fast fading white crown. Balanced with neither the hops or malts taking the lead in aroma or tatse: refreshing enough, but really a very basic Pilsner with nothing to make it stand out from the crowd.

50cl bottle as Altstadt Pilsener. Klare hell goldgelbe Farbe, mittelgroße weiße schaumkrone. Geruch getreidig hell malzig, plörrig hopfig. Geschmack getreidig bitter hopfig, plörrig, nicht gut.

500 mml bottle tasted on the 26/08/2016. Labeled as "Altstadt Schwarzbier". Cola colour with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and liquorice. Taste is liquorice, some candy and hints of roast. Next one please!

Tap. A fairly typical but well done Schwarz: Slight roast notes, mostly liquorice, fitting bitterness, foamy lively carbonation, light body. Simple and easy, but well done.

33cl bottle from Erzengel! Pours slightly hazy golden colour with a mid-sized white head. Aroma of very sweet grainy malt, corn, sugar. Taste of grainy malt, very sweet, sugar, watery palate, not good!

33cl bottle from Erzengel, many thanks! Pours murky deep golden colour with a huge good lasting off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, grains, corn, yeast. Taste of very sweet malt, grains, cereals, sweet banana and yeast.
