Description
The Barbourne Cider Co. is a small family business based in Worcester. We use methods and techniques that have been perfected by cider makers for generations. With assistance from modern technology we make tasty ciders for all to enjoy.

Barbourne continue to use many of the methods and techniques that have been perfected by cider makers in Worcestershire for generations such as using wild yeasts in the fermentation process. They take pride in only using freshly pressed juice to make ciders and have never added artificial sweeteners to their award winning range of ciders and perries.

The orchards Barbourne use contain some of the older varieties of cider apples which make some really distinctive ciders. Early in the season they press Foxwhelp with Bulmers Norman, Redstreak and Major with Browns Apple and Harry Masters Jersey with Browns Apple. Later on other varieties ripen such as Lavignee, Brown Snout, White Norman and Kington Black. The Kingston Black is fermented on its own and bottle conditioned later as a single varietal cider. By mid November Barbourne are picking and pressing Dabinet, Yarlington Mill, Ashton Brown Jersey and finally Vilberie.

Box @ JDW Montgomery's Tower. Pours misty pink, cherry juicy on the nose. Overall character is pretty vivid cherry bakewell and not much else, certainly little in the way of apple juice. Fine in a novelty flavoured cider way, though I'm getting a bit tired of them to be honest.

BIAB at Tanners Hall JDW Fest, Darlington. Reddish pink colour, no head and aroma of almonds, cherry, marzipan. Taste is sweet, almond, marzipan, bakewell tart, glazed cherry. Syrupy mouthfeel, light to medium bodied, low carbonation, lingering marzipan & glazed cherry finish. OK, abit artificial

Bag in a box at Folkestone Spoons. Hazy pink red colour no head. Artificial cherry almond aroma and more so in the mouth. Fairly horrific. It's almost neon it's so artificial. Bad sugar finish. Struggled to finish a half. So artificial. Not much apple character. Ugh. Left the last gulp it wasn't worth it.

On BIB at the Standing Order. Appearance - bright neon oramge to red. Nose - distinct cherry and apple competing for attention. Taste - cherry, marzipan and almond. Palate - creamy surprisingly and then dry tangy through the latter half. Overall - it does what it says on the tin.
