On tao at the brewery. Pours a near clear pale yellow with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has light grass and graham cracker with straw and wheat supporting. Flavor has earthy grass and light wheat with some graham cracker and straw underlying.

On tap at Surly. Pours a slightly hazy orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has mango and dank citrus with a bit of sweet onion supporting. Flavor has dank mango and citrus with grass, melon and some sweet grains supporting.

On tap at Darkness Day. Pours black with a dark earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has smoke and earthy dark grains with some roast and just touch of cherry underlying. Flavor combines smoke and sweet dark grains with some light peat coming through and a hint of roast.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a decent amount of corn with straw, grains and a touch of hay underlying. Flavor is similar with corn through out, light grains, straw and a bit of hay in the finish.

Can thanks to Stuu's Chicago trip. Pours jet black with a thick beige head. Aromas of blackberry, molasses liquorice. Taste is blackberry, black cherry and liquorice. Smoky, tar, woody and boozy finish. Nice.

Appearance - matt to jet black. Beige, crema head.
Nose - savoury, blackberry, molasses and an edge of liquorice.
Taste - blackberry, black cherry and liquorice. Smoky tar edge.
Palate - full bodied, lean, lightly woody and not boozy.
Overall - a very complex but elegant imperial stout.
