Description
Great Beer Above All Else

Surly: The frustration we felt when we couldn't find a good beer, much less a great one, in Minnesota. So we made some.

Great beer is all that really matters. Well, that and pushing your limits a bit, looking out for your people, taking pride in where you’re from, and having as much damn fun as you can while doing it.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy deep gold with a touch of orange that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has tangerine and orange with some mango and light papaya underlying. Flavor has more of a dank citrus with growing mango and a bit of papaya in the finish.

Can shared. Deep motor oil or soy sauce black. Nose is bourbon, vanilla, caramel, chocolate fudge, soy sauce, cherry. Deep, rich flavor, sweet and savory, caramel and chocolate, vanilla, berries, soy sauce, and lots of tannic oak. Excellent stuff and so drinkable.

Bottle shared by Jeff, thanks! Pours black with an earthy dark brown head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has chocolate and roasted malts with a bit of bourbon and vanilla supporting. Flavor has a nice sweet dark grain and chocolates with growing roast and a bit of bourbon backing.

Can from Systembolaget. Definitely highly hyped and without a doubt a good meaty IPA but nothing mind blowing.

12 oz draft at Barley's Brewhaus in Shawnee, Kansas. The pour is a cloudy orange golden, with a foamy one inch white head that falls with coating lave. The aroma is pine, resin and a decent amount of fresh mango fruit. The taste is the bold pine resin of the base Todd, with a nicely integrated mango fruit sweetness. The palate is medium bodied, soft natural carbonation, and a dry resinous finish. Nice fun new take on a classic.

Nitro at Sick-N-Twisted: pours dark brown with a nitro head. Aroma is loads of milky coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is like a smooth coffee. Not crazy flavorful coffee, but it gets the job done.

Can.

A- Golden color, hazy liquid, white head.

A- Grapefruit, sour.

F- Grapefruit, tart.

T- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish.

O- Pretty much all grapefruit juice but no bitterness with it. A bit tangy for sure but otherwise not much else for flavor. Didn't dislike it but it was basically grapefruit juice. Very crushable, almost shandy like.
