Hazy orange color with small steady white head. Honey, mango and some papery hops in reasonably strong nose. After this kind of aroma, beer is drier than expected. Packed with alcohol and some fruityness and spiceyness. Alcohol is warming, but not dominating. Dry finish with papery notes (hops?). A bit too simple palate, although it is decent brew (tripel I would say).

Bottle from Hop Duvel, Gent. Mahogany coloured with a decent tan head that left plenty of lacing. Aroma was sweet, with plenty of dark fruit, candy sugar and yeast. The flavour was similar with a slightly bitter finish. Not the most memorable Belgian beer.

250ml bottle. Deep golden colour with a moderate white head. Aroma of honey, apricot, herbs and a touch of spice. The flavour had some sweet malt, spice and fruit with a dry finish. Good.

250ml bottle bought in Bruges. Black with a decent tan head. Very sweet aroma of molasses and coffee. Flavour was also sweet, with some dark fruit and not much of a finish. Not for me.

250ml bottle. Golden coloured with a decent white head. Aroma of yeast, hay and floral hops. The flavour had some sweet malt and a long dry finish. A good strong lager.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a longlasting off-white head. Malty spicy and slightly yeasy aroma with some hints of caramel. Sweet spicy malty flavor with some weak hints of yeast and caramel. Long malty spicy bitter finish.

Aroma of sweet, darkish caramel. Reddish tinged amber color with a white head that didn’t hold up. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet caramel with biscuit and mild hop accompanied by dried fruit. It’s very tasty, and there is a complex interaction between the malt and the hop. It seems to change from sip to sip. Pretty nice stuff.

(33cl bottle, courtesy of bierkoning) Hazy, dark amber colour with a big and stable light-beige foamy head. Sweet, sugary and slightly yeasty malt aroma with caramel, a fruity tinge of plums, spicy and hoppy notes. Sweet flavour, quite full bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Dark and cara-malty taste with liquorice, spices and low fruity notes; sweet-bitter, malt-accented and spicy finish with alcohol and a light but well-rounded hops character. The initial metallic tinge fades quickly after a few sips. Very pleasant.

330 ml bottle from Nugget in Woodland. Caramel malt aroma, with a touch of Belgian spice. Pale amber color with a decent off-white head. A bit of lacing. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is caramel with date or near dark fruit. Something spicy as well. It tingles the tongue. Could be clove, but the complexity is confusing. Finish is sweet, but as the sugar drains away some bitter and spice balance the malt. Very good drink.

25cl bottle: Vintage 2005 or before: Dark brown with creamy white head & handsome lacings. Aroma is of matured malts - basically old, dusty & earthy. Smooth & soft palate. Very sweet of dried fruits - almost cloying - especielly because of the dusty & matured malt dominance! This one was at least 6 month too old!
