Description
Leroy Het Sas : The original brewery "Het Sas", later Brouwerij Leroy, established in Boezinge in 1572; destroyed in the First World War and rebuilt in 1924. Named after a lock ('sas' in Dutch) in the nearby canal. Cooperating with Van Eecke (Leroy Breweries Watou) since 1962. Both breweries merged into Leroy Breweries in 2016.

Leroy Watou : Established as a castle brewery for the count of Watou in 1624 and also known formerly as Brouwerij De Gouden Leeuw. Has long been connected to Leroy in Boezinge through family ties, with both breweries cooperating since 1962. They merged into Leroy Breweries in 2016; the Watou branch now does all the actual brewing (while Boezinge handles conditioning and bottling).

From the website:

Fruity, citrusy aroma with a slight touch of cod liver oil. Very hazy orangey amber color with a fizzing white head. Near medium in body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. Starts very caramel sweet, with some yeast spice, peach and citrus. It’s not sticky, just something like very ripe fruit. The finish is sweetish, but there’s some hop to help - just not enough to balance. It’s a good drink though. Quite smooth.

Pale yellow with a off white head. Aroma is extremely grainy/corn & sour like. Almost like sweat. Some maltyness but the sour taste makes this one hard to swallow. Weak palate. Not good!

25 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with yeast sediments floating around, crispy white and disappearing head.Citrus, coriander, wheat and fruity aroma with a minor yeast note. Fizzy and somewhat thin mouthfeel. Flavour is lemonish and sweet with a soft mouthfeel from the wheat which provides both a feel and flavour smoothness. Somewhat thin finish which seems more citric watery than anything else. Not bad but not good either.6-3-6-3-11=2.9
