Description
We love beer and we love people! We think the global craft beer community is pretty cool, with barrels of knowledge to share. That’s why we’ve partnered with craft breweries in the UK, Germany, Belgium and Croatia to brew our first 7 beers as Ad Astra.

We started Ad Astra with the goal of creating really exciting craft beers in collaboration with other like minded breweries. Although we’re the new kids on the block, our team is made up of beer-know-it-alls, all with a love of collaborative brewing.

Take a look at our beers to get a taste of what we have in store.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A cloudy pale amber pour with a fast fading white head; weak tropical fruit aroma; taste to match, like weak tropical fruit squash; and a rather unpleasant metallic bitterness. A poor NEIPA.

330ml can. Hazy yellow-gold with small consistent white head. Aroma has ripe pineapple and citrus; not punchy hop wise but still a pleasant fruitiness. Flavour is pleasant again but a bit thin through the middle with mild mineral hints. Some crisp fine carbonation and resin in the finish. A below average hazy IPA although its one of my favourite styles so still enjoyed it.

Pours mahogany with good sized beige head. Aroma of dark caramel, light smoke with hint of dried fruitiness. Taste is malty with toffee, fig, roast and a floral bitter finish. Medium bodied and a touch sticky on the palate. It had more potential on the nose but I found the flavour/mouthfeel a bit stodgy. This is only my 6th Dunkler Bock but I've never rated above a 3.4. Yet to find a really good example of the style.

Can. Very confusing write up - is it supposed to be a Baltic porter, classic porter or Schwarzbier? Pours dark brown beige head. Aroma of dark malts, caramel, raisin, slight dustiness. Taste is moderately roasty with a fruity raisin and sultana but not much of a finish to it. Its light to medium bodied but reasonably slick. It grew on me, quite easy to drink.

Semi-hazed gold with small white top, reasonable retention. Aroma of sharp lemon, coconut, apricot, grains. Very citric noted in flavour, some pine and coconut, some juicy hop bitterness. Light bodied, easy drinking, fine carbonation. Nice session style offering.

Dark brown with small beige to tanned head, modest retention. Nice coffee bean aroma with hints of chocolate and spice. Taste has a nice balance of flavours but the coffee element is less intense than expected. There is also chocolate, roasted malt, touch of biscuit, orange, blackberry but not much spiciness. It is a touch watery in the middle but certainly tasty, sessionable and with reasonable bitterness in finish. Likable. #50 flavoured porter.

Hazy gold, lots of carbonation, consistent white top. Floral and earthy aroma with tropical fruits, some zest. Taste of lemon rind, orange, passionfruit, a pine and floral bitter finish - has a nice kick to it. Nice mouthfeel to this, pillowy medium body, soft mouthfeel. A lot better than expected. Very enjoyable.

Pours a mostly clear gold with nice small fluffy white top. Cereal grainy aroma with a hint of toastiness, some sweetness, slightly yeasty. Taste as above with light fruit hint. Soft mouthfeel, well carbonated for the style without being too aggressive. Decent.

Clear dark gold with a nice white covering. Malty, somewhat biscuity with light floral and spicy hop. Taste follows with honey, maybe a slight fruit hint. Slick light+ body, mild dryness. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Not a modern craft pale ale as expected but I should have known this from the hop being used. It's a golden ale in reality and a pleasant but unassuming one at best.

Can from Beer52. Clear gold with a finger of white head. Grain and hay aroma, hint of spice. Taste is cereal noted, semi-sweet, grassy and herbal hop notes. Nice smooth body and soft carbonation. Some good elements but ultimately its an average tasting lager.
