(Bottle 50 cl) Pours pilsener golden with a slight haze and a handsome, creamy, white head leaving laces. Sweetish malty - almost perfumy - aroma. Medium-bodied completely dominated by sweet malt nicely balanced by some bittering hops. Almost like an unfiltered Hefe. 100606

(bottle) Hazy, pale golden colour with mid-sized white foamy head. Yeasty and banana-fruity nose with shy notes of cloves. Medium-sweet flavour, light to medium body, medium carbonation. Initially malty, slightly wheaty and fruity taste; medium dry, slightly bitter but mainly citrus-fruity and malty finish with dense notes of hops and again banana in the aftertaste. Drinkable, but personally I have no need for that.

Bottle. 5.4 ABV. Frothy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Nice balanced malty and hoppy aroma and flavor. Average bitter finish. Nice palate.

Bottle: Amber coloured, medium sized "egg-shell" head, quite stable; sweet-malty aroma, a tinge of toasted malt, some herbal (hoppy) notes; sweet flavour, medium bodied; slightly lingering, bitter finish, toasted malt also detectable. Not bad, not very impressive. I agree with my esteemed co-rater bierkoning: Not a Pils, but a Märzen !

Bottle: Pale golden, small lacing white head; faint sweetish grainy, also a bit bitter nose; faint bitter-sweet flavour, almost a bit sourish, medium bodied; short bitter-malty finish. Bland, not really necessary........

500 ml screwcap bottle, bought at Otto Duborg, Flensburg, Germany. Unpasteurised. Clear (filtered???) golden colour, large and lasting white head. Fruity and flowery aroma, hints of honey. Moderate carbonation, soft moutheel. Moderate malty flavour, very moderate hops. Easy drinking, but not remarkable.

500 ml screwcap bottle, simply named "Engel Dunkel", confirmed by the brewery website. Bought at Otto Duborg, Flensburg, Germany. ABV is 5.3% (label), brewery website says 5.2%. Unpasteurised but filtered. This is their ordinary Dunkel, not to be confused with their unfiltered Engel Kellerbier Dunkel. Beautiful clear chestnut colour, large and lasting off-white head. Pleasant malty aroma with strong notes of bakery, chocolate and caramel. Moderate carbonation. Malty sweet flavour with a moderate roastiness, notes of Danish pastry, hints of over-ripe berries. Some hops in the finish.

(bottle) Cloudy and hazy orange colour with a big foamy white head. Shy clovy and slightly banana-fruity nose. Light-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, lively carbonated. Moderately sweet wheaty taste with banana and a rather unpleasant fizzy and clovy finish. Not very round, not very good.

A yellow beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty and so is the flavor, but in the flavor notes of caramel mixes in.
