Description
The first record of the inn and brewery “Zum goldenen Engel” in Crailsheim from 1738 reads “annual production volume 150 buckets.” In 1877 George Fachs becomes the new owner of the brewery. The Fachs family still owns - now in the fifth generation - the brewery. In 1984 Engel becomes the first German brewery to bottle Radler. Since the turn of the millennium, Engel-Biermanufaktur has developed into a specialty brewery that regularly receives awards for its beers.

Screw top 500ml bottle (as Engel Kellerbier Alkoholfrei & Naturtrub), no mention of 0.4% ABV: BB 16th Nov 2021. Obtained from 'The Sausage Man'. Drank at home with a Venison Sausage from the same place! Golden pour, mini-haze, soft white head (fast fading). The nose held a grainy/malty front, some Apricot esters too. The taste malty and grassy, no Apricots flavour wise. Almost enjoyed it!

500ml bottle [2.5% abv]. Hazy, yellow-ish, golden colour with average, thick, firm, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, snow-white head. Citrusy fruity aroma, notes of lemon, lemonade, lemon juice and artificial sweetener, grainy, minimally musty, malty background. Taste is sugary sweet and sour, citrusy fruity, notes of lemon juice, lemonade, a grainy, malty touch, some citric acid. Watery texture, minimally astringent palate, coarse, prickly carbonation. Refreshing, only minimally artificial, remnants of beer are detectabe - by far not the worst Radler around.

Bottle from Gabriel - Cheers! 🍻. Tight white foamy head stayed on a cloudy, slowly carbonating vivid amber coloured body. Banana, clove & yeast aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & well carbonated on the back with a cloying aft. Banana, spices, sweet citrus & confectionery tastes with a peppery finish. Would be a great patio beer

500ml bottle [7.2% abv]. Clear, dark brown colour with ruby shimmer and small to average, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Grainy, strawy, minimally bready, malty aroma, hints of spelt, a touch of rye bread, pumpernickel, waxy hoppy overtones. Taste is minimally dry, sweet-ish, grainy, bready malty, a touch of treacle, pumpernickel, metallic overtones. Watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally dry palate, fien and soft carbonation. More dark coloured than convincingly dark malty, thin and watery, waxy and metallic off-flavours - definitely not good.
