Draught at King’s Head on 4/2/16.
A thoroughly hazy golden-orange beer that reminds of the New England IPA with a large white head atop that steadily fades to cover.
The Belgian yeast is very nicely integrated here, adding fruitiness and light earthiness to the otherwise juicy and lemon-sweaty hop notes. Enough pale malt sweetness left behind to give a light indication of honey from the nose and little, if any resin. Didn’t actually realize this was Belgian, as the hops mostly cover up any overt Belgian esters, but it just comes off like a rustic, juicy, interesting IPA. No alcohol or flaws.
In the flavor it’s got the tell-tale New England juiciness. Not as explosive and lush as Tree House et al., but certainly the lovely malt sweetness and oat texture are highly redolent of those. Dryness comes on the end, probably in large part due to the Belgian yeast, with ample, tight carbonation and tons of lemon, grass, nectarine and pineapple. Very mild on the bitterness, though more than enough to balance the malts. Really can’t stand Chouffe, but didn’t even notice it here. Thanks hops!

Bottle thanks to Seth. Pours a hazy yellow with frothy white head that lasts leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong honey, brett, funk, oak. Medium mouth, strong brett, funky, oak, light finish, good.

Brown with a lot of red. thanks AFH for sharing these. Smells like jam made with raisins, figs and prune juice. The fig just straight up dominates this aroma. Fig, prune and others dominate this with maple syrup potently striking at the finish. The biggest issue I have with this (sorry Dave) is I don’t get anything related to a Porter...much less an imperial porter. The booze is hidden, there’s just a lot of sweetness, no roast no toffee, coffee, espresso, roast, chocolate. It’s more like a fruit beer.

Bottle from AFH. Thanks sir!!! This is a dark reddish brown with a little bit of sediment. A single finger head that fades slowly to a thin tan line. Smells really nice. You get a little bit of the booze aroma, coconut with a very light flaked oat. The mouthfeel is a little thin, The coconut is certainly there. I’ve never had a Tayberry but it certainly lends a sweetness here with a slightly roasted finish. I’m not sure this is a porter though?

500 ml bottle purchased at the brewery about a week ago. Dark brown in color, some small head, light lacing. Aroma is rich with figs, sugar and natural maple hints.

Flavor has layers of figs. Fig for days… Maple is a slightly large influence without becoming cloying. It is sweet but not overly so. The mouthfeel has a lower carbonation level with an oily texture. Medium in body that leans on fuller. Nicely crafted.

500 ml bottle purchased at the brewery about a week ago. Massive carbonation on a slow, steady pour. Deep brown in color with a huge, slow dying tan head. Aroma is herbal berries and hints of mild roasted grain.

The flavor is dominating in this odd berry. I can’t pick out any of the coconut flake. Also in the back end of the sip is a mild sourness. Almost reminds me of a light sour brown with herbal berries added. The mouthfeel has plenty of carbonation with a lively tingle over the palate. Medium in body. Very different and I think people who enjoy sours would like this a lot.

On tap at The Reservoir, Waterbury, VT.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a dark hazy brown color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head that dissipated immediately. Minimal lacing sticks and then slides into the beer.
The smell had some light sweet and roasty smooth coffee beans, light cocoa beans, light amount of ash, and a light sweet wheat.
The taste had a sweet wheaty to ashy cocoa bean. Light coffee slides in underneath for the balance. Ashy/smoky and roasty aftertaste leads into a sweet dry wheaty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly smooth and light.
Overall, wheat based Imperial porter, yup works for me. I’d have again. Good stuff.

Draft in a sampler at the brewery. Pours a hazy yellow with white head that laces the glass and has a lasting film. Notes of lemon citrus, pale malts, straw, and pineapple. Light-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a airy, clean mouthfeel.

Very refreshing and at 5.3, this could be enjoyed in large amounts.

Draft. Appearance wise it looks like orange juice. The dry hopping is obvious in mild earthy notes and citrus. Also hints of yeast.

The flavor lets you know it is an IPA. The yeast is taken over by the hops, (as it should) citrus shows in light display with a tone pine. Mouthfeel is nice from the oat addition. I get a mild taste of alcohol but overall this is solid. And in general a Belgian IPA is tuff style to get in Harmony, this Brewer pulls it off. Very easy to drink.
